The unit is 110CT, 233 MHz CPU, 64 MB RAM, 4.2 GB hard disk, BIOS 8.10.

I bought it second hand, Win98 installed. Windows was obviously ill, so I
Win98 install failed again. Then I tried WinXP (after repartitioning
again),
and the install failed similarly, i. e. copy was OK, then after the first
boot it went into a rebooting loop.

Anyone experienced similar misbehavior? Any idea is highly appreciated.

well i had a similar problem with my 100ct, it turned out to be a slightly
loose ram upgrade, so try to take your ram upgrade out of your libby, and
see if the problem continues.

from: http://www.pcurtis.com/network.htm#net_install

I quote:
D-Link DE-660CT Ethernet PCMIA card Installation: This proceeded in a
similar way to the above although even more care had to be taken to get the
correct drivers as I had to copy them to the hard drive first as the
Libretto has no permanent floppy - the floppy drive plugs into the only
PCMIA slot. I also had to get an updated set of drivers emailed to me from
D-Link as it turned out that the Toshiba Libretto and DE-660 combination
does not work with the standard drivers. D-Link's technical support were
very helpfull and there was never any waiting for help.

nor are dlink responding to my email enquiries...

I have used D-link support a few moths ago, though in Denmark. Usually I
call the company in question, when I want support, and that seems to work.
Maybe you should try to call your local d-link support number?

That's true it's a Toshiba 1.8 inch HDD, max size is 20GB now, apparently
a 40GB
 is coming next year.

Oh, thank god, then I might be able to upgrade it later on.
I currently have a 20GB IBM TravelStar in my 100CT, and it is quite noisy, I
find the 1.8 Toshiba HDD a lot more quiet, though the fan in the L5 can be
quite noisy when it kicks into high power mode.

[LIB] HDD size in L5

2002-11-29 Thread Jan Novak [Tournesol^7thcube]

From: Jan Novak [Tournesol^7thcube] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: HDD size in L5

Hello people

I just bought a L5 (wifi model) to replace my current 100CT, now i have
heard some rumors [1] that the wifi model has a 1.8 inch HDD instead of the
standard 2.5 inch. I have search the web for information on 1.8 inch HDD's
and found that the maximum capacity made seems to be 5GB drives: The L5
comes with 20GB, this made me wonder. And as I dont feel like ripping my new
L5 open, then I would like to hear what you people on the list have to say.

Does it, or does it not come with a 1.8 HDD?

Kind regards
Jan Novak
www.libretto.dk

[1] The size rumor is to be found here:
http://memebeam.org/toys/ToshibaLibretto
And i quote: Note that the situation with the L5 model is much different:
it uses Toshiba's new drives with 3.3V logic. Furthermore, while the one
without wireless LAN has a 2.5 (MK2020GLP [17]), the one with wireless LAN
has Toshiba's next-generation 1.8.

First, if anyone is interested I have a like new Diamond Mako that I will

Second, somehow I have managed to collect 4 external Libretto battery
chargers. Can someone shed some light on that connector/outlet that is on
the opposite side of the power cord. Is there a cable that I can make/buy
that will allow me to charge a battery externally, plug in a cable into the
external charger, and power my Libretto 70 (or can I at least run the cable
from the charger, and use it strickly as a power supply for the Libretto?)

Thanks!!

Not sure if this was ever mentioned, but isnt the hi capacity Libretto 70

difference is the scallop on the side of the battery case (100 battery will
work in a 70, but not the other way). These batteries still seem to be

What is the real advantage of the Iomega drive vs say a PCMCIA or Floppy or
USB adaptor and a media format such as Compact Flash, SmartMedia or

PCMCIA adaptor would run about USD 100 or so.

Hey Guys,
I found a great little backup device. Its called
Pocket Zip drive. Its plugs into the Toshiba Librettos
PCMCIA slot and it has little disks that you insert
into it. The little disks are about the size of a
Australian 50 cent coin and they hold 40 megabytes.
Take a look at it at www.iomega.com

I also hear that Toshiba have released a 2 GB PCMCIA
hard disk drive. They should also be great.
