Pops up and states that it requires a 150MHz processor, then exits.

50ct Overclocked requires multiple reboots to get started

Subject: 50ct Overclocked requires multiple reboots to get started

This is my second overclocking of a 50ct. The first died and the motherboard
was replaced. Both were 75MHz processors. The first didn't have a single
hickup, until the memory on the motherboard went south. So, now I have a new
motherboard, and overclocked it to 100MHz. When starting it gives me
multiple errors, stating that I need to reinstall Windows. I was running
Windows 98 without a hitch at 75MHz. I'm trying to decide, if my best option
is to revert the overclock, or to reinstall Windows from scratch, or even
take it to 90MHz and see what happens there.

I installed W2K Pro on my L50... :-) It is fun to have W2K running on
a VHS
sized machine with a P75, 32 MB and on a 1GB partition Nobody
believes
 it's possible!

Franklin,
I've been thinking about doing this. Mine is overclocked to 100MHz, but
I still find certain things slow. I generally only use it for email, but
I need stability.

How do you find the speed, and boot up process. With 98 I have never
felt comfortable with the standby or hibernate option, so I always
shutdown. If hibernation truly worked, this would make life much
simpler.

Neil,
I think your right on with the assumption about the PCMCIA slot. I have
one of the 10/100 + 56K 3com cards. If I install the card after Windows
starts, I get the hour glass and it hangs for 5 minutes or crashes (more
of the crashes).

 David,

Oddly enough, on my CT50, I've also never felt comfortable with the
hibernate utility under W95B - but under linux I haven't had a single
problem. Strange. It also seems to come in and out of hibernation ok
if it's
in DOS too - I think the problems seem to be with re-initiallising
things
which might be in the PCMCIA slot...I'm not convinced windows knows
what to
 do!

I had Xin resoldier the memory on my 50, but with no luck. I took it to
the repair center and they wanted almost $600 for a new motherboard.
Luckily I paid with my AMEX card, and they doubled my warranty, and they
paid for the repair.

This is my plea for help or an offer of sale for my Lib50. I
upgraded my
 Lib

a short time after getting it, installing a 9.5mm HDD w/o removing
the
 foam.

Intermittent lockups began. Replaced the old HDD. Better. Now it is
dead.

Is there some kind soul with the tools and expertise to solder the
memory
 on

the motherboard? I will pay any reasonable price.

Failing this, does anyone need a Viking memory upgrade or a Lib50
screen
 with

   one bad pixel?

   Thanks

I would suggest Neil, I am sure given enough time he could fix it. He
has a
blow torch that will fix anything from a Lib to a 4" leaking pipe.

Seriously, in the previous cases of this type of failure, (2 or 3
plus
years) I do not recall anyone salvaging the failed motherboard.

All that are programs for Windows.
 What about Linux?
How can you put a penguin on an iceberg?

No need for this stuff on Linux, WinNT, Win2000 already there. Just
required with 95/98
