Hey, was just wondering has anyone taken a 2 or 4 gig cf card and put
it in an IDE adapter and used it for a
HD in something like a Libretto 70ct? I'd love to have a fast no HD
machine to use for GPS mapping or something.

It'll work. When I searched around 2-3 years ago, the problem was that there
were no CF / IDE adapters at that time that could fit into the HD slot
properly. Thus, I simply went to eBay, and picked up a 2.5 6.x mm solid state
flash drive replacement cheap instead. These drives work fine, and are
basically the same thing as your idea. Sandisk.com has a bunch of them.
Search around and you may find CF / IDE adapters that'll fit nowadays.

But, GPS-wise, I'm using MapPoint 2004 on my L110 and it's limited by the CPU
and graphics processor speed mostly. HD access is more than fast enough to
load up the maps it needs, so it's mostly due to a 10+ year old PC =)

Just wondering if anyone has done this or if anyone thinks it is a
good or bad idea.
