With the U1: no internal, just the bottom stick :)

A better design point is the dual battery setup JVC interlink ( in my book),
you get a small battery, and a big one that clips over the top
(both standard supplied items)

If you look from the side you can see it (eg.
http://shop.conics.net/sony-vu/u1-views.jpg ) ... I guess this is the old
case of Sony making the back of their laptop twice as thick as the front to
make it look really really thin but such that it also sits really funny in
anything you'd care to put it in ... its not the first time they've done it
with a Vaio either. A bit wrong in my opinion ... I'd still prefer the way
JVC or even Toshiba have done it, at least they're honest and shove it out
the back instead ...

Hello

I think they could have made the battery thinner and take up the
whole base of the unit but I like the way that they did it. It
angles the keyboard very nicely when resting on a desk.

[LIB] Sony U1

2002-08-20 Thread Daniel Seiden

Date: Tue, 20 Aug 2002 11:50:21 -0700
From: Daniel Seiden [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: Sony U1

Hello

Ok.. I have had it for about a month now and can post some comments
on it for anyone who is interested. I have retired my Lib50 for now
as this one will take over what I did with that and more. I was
hoping that we would see something announced from Toshiba soon to
compete with this one since the Sony has been flying off the shelves
  in Japan.

So far I love this unit. It is small like the Lib50 but much more
powerfull. I have left the Japanese WinXP on there since it was just
as easy to deal with as having to find all the new drivers to get
everything working in English Windows. The mouse system reminds me
of the Libretto in many ways. Very easy to use when holding the
unit. Screen is sharp and the zoom feature is nice when you need to
  read some small text.

Overall the unit seems very well build and designed. If anyone has
specific questions feel free to email me.

Dan
