As far as i can tell, it was a Peanut Linux windows install... btw I sorted the network problem - the card is recognised, but I had to install netcgf to make it wake up on DHCP. Date: Fri, 20 Jul 2001 15:11:41 From: neil barnes [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: One for the linux types... Two things... Having just had a windows proggie roast my partition tables (to the extent that I've had to write code to write to the disk to make it fdiskable again - both windows and linux fdisks barfed on it!) I've just had to reinstall from scratch - still in progress. (1) I managed to get mandrake 8 installed by loading it with the disk on a desktop machine, and then letting HardDrake do it's stuff and unload most of the drivers, and playing with the X drivers to make it use the chips driver. It works! But the news is, on a CT50, even overclocked, don't bother. KDE2 and Konqueror are just too slow to be of practical use. Ah well, back to the drawing board... (2) So I put M7.1 back on, from the hard disk using a floppy to boot it so that I can get the text mode install, which is the only one that will run in the available memory. The snag now is that even though the psion gold card modem/network combo was in the slot, and was probed, the network install didn't find it. I know I had it working previously but I have no idea how I did it. Any offers?
