 A crash is an obvious sign that there is some problem at Trillian's end,
 but if we can change the request sent by Licq to workaround it, I think it
 should be done.

 I've looked at the capture and my Wireshark does not mark anything as
 malformed. Please clarify exactly what field in the packet that is faulty
 or missing.
 Also, a capture of the same type of packet when Trillian doesn't crash
 (i.e. sent from another non-Licq client) would be very helpful.

 Note: both the thru-server packet AND the direct-connection packet arrived
 thru the ICQ server. No actual direct connection between me and my buddy
 was established; I blocked his IP incoming and outgoing in my firewall to
 make sure of that.
