Re: lilypond Scheme syntax in ly/music-functions-init.ly
2006/7/27, Thomas Bushnell BSG [EMAIL PROTECTED]: In lilypond 2.8.4, ly/music-functions-init.ly, there occurs thefollowing snippet (we're using Guile 1.6.8):%% FIXME: guile-1.7 required?%#(use-modules (scm display-lily))invalid module name for use-syntax ((srfi srfi-39)) I am in fact seeing this error. Are there people successfullybuilding lilypond using Guile 1.6.8?ThomasI have reproduced this error many times in lilypond 2.9.cvs with guile 1.6.8 in my debian-testing distro. The question mark in guile-1.7 required? hints that upgrading moves the problem to an another place. With guile 1.8 this problem was skipped, but there appeared some endless loop of a programming error: ... zero-length error when compiling any of the .ly -files, which was probably caused by guile. How could one resolve this issue further? I have been pondering, is lilypond able to parse any of the #(use-modules (...)) declarations? -- Heikki ___ lilypond-devel mailing list lilypond-devel@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-devel
Disconnected
Hi, I'm currently away from home, and (unexpectedly) this means that I can't connect my computer to Internet. At the same time, I have had some time for coding, so I have been able to finish a megapatch that makes all engravers use translator listeners instead of try_music. Next time I'll be able to access CVS is either around Oct 5 or around Oct 12. So: Do you prefer to wait until I can commit (which means that the patch will grow considerably), or do you prefer to commit yourself, given that I produce a well-formed, make-web-preserving patch? Do not assume that I do not want to understand your point. And excuse me if I am wrong, after all I (or others) could be helped to understand what you mean. Also excuse me if this is not the best way to help reaching a friendly atmosphere on this mail-list; I am trying as hard as I can but I may fail. I see, and totally agree. It's not easy to manage many emails with real-bugs reports or false-bugs. But an answer like read the manual is neither a friendly answer nor an answer at all. I prepared a score with lilypond and the celloist missed one note because of this problem, so I thought it could be a good idea to discuss this behaviour on the list. This is the reason my i went into a grumpy mood when you answered try to live with it, because it would end the discussion with no solution, or no real conclusion. I think your example on how weird accidental rules seem in some places is very good. Accidentals may seem odd even if it is the correct way these accidentals are placed. I do not think that the developers should change the accidental-rules. I don't understand what you mean, you say accidental rules seem weird in some places, but should remain as they are. Why? -The only rule to be adjusted is don't let the over-the-bar rule turn off the implicit ! obtained by alternations in the same bar -And to make it still better: forget the alteration after n bars ___ lilypond-devel mailing list lilypond-devel@gnu.org http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/lilypond-devel

I didn't even see a release announcement for it. It was released, mostly with minor layout fixes.
