Agreed - this is fantastic work.
I wish there were more reports of this quality. It'd make it easier to fix
stuff.

I have a pretty good sense of how difficult each issue will be to fix - lemme
know if you need an order of attack once you get cracking on these problems.

Cheers,

Hi Janek

An impressive collection of suggested enhancements! I hope your exams don't
suffer!

Most look excellent to me, but I have comments on a couple of them which
I'll add to the issues themselves.

Dear Team,

i've just created a multi-issue bug report about Lyrics: see issues
2450 - 2462
(http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/list?q=label:GSoC-LyricProject).

I dedicate them to Valentin, as he was skeptical whether Lyrics in
LilyPond need much improvement ;)
I've set the owner of these issues to myself, because one of my two
applications for Google Summer of Code will be about improving Lyrics
in Lily - it would be troublesome if suddenly someone did the work for
me!
Feel free to comment on these issues (suggestions greatly

rejected (final decision will be known on April 20th).

Doc/LSR-problem?

2012-03-30 Thread Thomas Morley
Hi,

I just downloaded today's tarball:  lsr-snippets-all-2012-03-30.tar.gz
in order to make some checks.

Something went wrong:

In the updated files the old version and the old header is not
replaced by the new ones.
Instead the new versions/headers were simply added.

As an example I use: adding-fingerings-to-a-score.ly

\version "2.12.2"

\header {
 texidoc = "
Fingerings for chords can be obtained by adding them to individual
pitches.

"
 doctitle = "Adding fingerings to chords"
}
\version "2.14.0"

\header {
 texidoc = "
Fingerings for chords can be obtained by adding them to individual
pitches.

"
 doctitle = "Adding fingerings to chords"
}
\relative c'{
 < c-1 e-2 g-3 b-5 >2
 < d-1 f-2 a-3 c-5 >
}

I don't know what happened or anything about the consequences.

I just informed Sebastiano.

Well, my question was "your choir uses tools that could be brought to
interpret this kind of message?", and the +100 is because my question
apparently should have been "your choir could be brought to use tools
that interpret this kind of message?".

 Dear Sirs,
 I am developing a Midi music player, using the .mid and .pdf
 generated by lilypond with the \pointAndClickOn, for educational
 purpose.

 Others players "invent" the music score from the .mid, not a true
 music score.

 If the same informations, line and column, are in the midi file, it
 is possible, playing the midi, to link .mid and .pdf .

 The suggested format is using the meta-text message like:

 FF 01 LL # POINTANDCLICK

 where:
  LL                    length
  #                     identifies the point and click
  POINTANDCLICK         the same informations on .pdf

Not quite, that was rather meant as a +110 for having this in Frescobaldi.
The situation is as follows: my choir is used to Finale scores. In
Finale, when you play a score, a green line follows the playback
(showing where you are). We're switching to LilyPond, and when i send
them MIDI files, they miss this feature. I've thought about using
Musescore for that, but i had trouble exporting Lyrics through MIDI,
and also the layout of the imported midi is completely different from
the actual pdf score. It would be nice if we could use Frescobaldi
for that. (or some other tool, but Frescobaldi is already here).
Actually, i know that pdf is a very "broad" format and i suppose that
one could create interactive pdf scores that would "play themselves".
It would be a useful feature if LilyPond could do this.

cheers,
Janek

Early next morning I am leaving for my yearly Easter climbing trip (back
on Tuesday after Easter).

LilyPond has been taken into account by picking accommodation with a
roof, so if the weather goes bad, there will be workable conditions.
There is WLAN access in the lobby, not sure whether it was actually
24/7. Access in the rooms itself would be something like €40 extra per
week IIRC: last year one of the participants needed access for
work-related reasons, so we were "sharing" by handing round his MAC
address. Ironically, the user who was not able to set her computer's
MAC address and consequently was left out of the fun was using a Mac.

It will not be feasible to do my usual work patterns since all rooms
(apart from the bathroom) in the appartment are used for sleeping. And
besides, I tend to be tired. So I'll likely skip on the in-room access.
There will likely be one synch per evening, and little time to work.

All in all, an excellent opportunity for other people to try running
test-patches.py.

I'll be cutting short the countdowns on my outstanding items so that I
have a chance to address complaints before I leave.
