Actually, project Gutenburg might be more famous than Open Source
software -- it's certainly easier for non-computer people to understand.
I think Gutenburg and Mutopia would be a great topic. Besides, it
can serve as a "gateway drug" to open source software -- once somebody
understands Gutenburg, it'll be much easier for them to understand
open source software.

Hi all,
I am now taking a distance course in Free Software/Open Source at Gothenburg's
university in Sweden.

The course handles FS from different points of view; such as legal,
philosophical, economical and organisatorical. From the course description:
The purpose of this course is to study the philosophical foundations and
theories that have developed in the open source/free software field.
Beginning with a historical view of the developments in theory and philosophy
the course participants will continue their study of the phenomenon and also
be given the opportunity to discuss the new issues these development
philosophies have given rise to. Additionally the question of whether these
same theories and philosophies can be applied in other fields of intellectual
endeavour aside from programming.

Now the major part of the course examination is to write an essay of 4500
words. The subject is very vague; it should just be something about free
software. So now I'm looking for ideas.

So my question for you all is now: Do you know any particular lilypond-related
subject such that the project would benefit if there existed a 4500 word
essay with this subject?
