I was hoping that I could get some feedback on the Windows python 
problems so I can release binary builds of 2.8.6 too. (The 2.8 binaries 
use the same python as the 2.9)

released, but the source just didn't make it into the archive?  I

It was released, mostly with minor layout fixes. I'll do a 2.8.6
