Re: Two Problems

2003-09-01 Thread Graham Percival

Thorkil Wolvendans [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
(please compile VM01.ly to see the problem)

One general comment -- since you're in 3/4 time, Lilypond should automatically
beam in quarters. There's no need to do [a8 b] [c d] everywhere. That might
improve the readability of your scores. :)

 1) From measure 49 to 52 (page 2), I want a slur to go from bes2 bes' to
 a2.. Because there's a second voice involved, I can't create that slur.
How can I get Lilypond to place that slur? NB: I don't want to tie one
 voice to another!

My inclination would be to add a second (silent, invisible) voice to the
first few bars (49 until the second voice really enters). I don't know of
a proper way to do this, but mine works for me.

 2) In measure 92 (page 3) something very strange is going on: a normal
barline followed by a new key signature and a double barline. As far as I
can see, this is not what I've typed. What's wrong?

You told Lilypond r1, which means a four-beat rest. Lilypond has a 3-beat
rest, a bar line, an invisible quarter-note rest (held over from the initial
r1) and then your \bar ||. You probably want R2. (the R will make it
display a whole-bar rest, and will last for the desired 2. )

Cheers,
- Graham

Re: dvips Problem

2003-09-01 Thread Mats Bengtsson
Please always specify what operating system you use and how you
installed LilyPond (if you compiled it yourself or from what
package).
If you run ly2dvi with the extra flag '-V', you will get a more
informative error message that you can send to this list.

Will Oram wrote:
This is the first time I've run lilypond 1.8, as well as lilypond at all
on this new computer of mine. So, naturally, first test runs have problems.

Whatever I attempt to process through ly2dvi, I get this bundle of errors:

warning: no LilyPond output found for 'myfile'

I reinstalled TeTeX (which holds dvips, I understand) and the error
didn't change. I've tested lilypond on Mutopia ly files, and it's the
same error.

What do you think? Thanks.

lilypond 1.8.1-1 on OS X 10.2.6 installed but test fails

2003-09-01 Thread Alexander Fordyce
Damn... Just installed lilypond 1.8.1-1 via Fink on OS X 10.2.6. Everything appeared
to go fine, but the test fails... I've attached the output from the ly2dvi --verbose
-p test command at the end of this email. Can you suggest my next step? If you need
more diagnostic info, please let me know how to provide it.

Thanks...

Re: lilypond 1.8.1-1 on OS X 10.2.6 installed but test fails

2003-09-01 Thread Mats Bengtsson
Apparently, the Type1 fonts (vector fonts that look much better than
the standard bitmap fonts in PDF files) are missing in your package.
You might want to try the following instructions (copied from the
LilyPond installation instructions):
wget
http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/lilypond/lilypond_1.8.0-1_i386.deb
ar x lilypond_1.8.0.-1_i386.deb
tar -C / -zxf data.tar.gz /usr/share/lilypond/1.8.0/fonts/type1/
tar -C / -zxf data.tar.gz /usr/share/lilypond/1.8.0/dvips/
texhash

Let's hope your Fink system have the necessary tools.

   /Mats
