That would fool any MIDI converter too! However that is not a big
problem. The big problem is that the lilypond file is generated
automatically by a script from an ABC source, so I want to be as
consistant as possible to prevent manual editing of the .book file.
Anyway, it was easy to work around the problem, just inserting a custom
\bar, overriding the repeat sign

My lilypond files don't compile, and no log is generated. The bash shell doesn't recognize commands like lilypond, lilypond-book, midi2ly, etc. even though the files exist. Ah. This is a very normal occurrence in choral music typeset on two
staves. (When typeset on one staff per voice, lyrics is usually
printed underneath each voice and this problem goes away.)
I'll try giving some answers based on my experience with typesetting
some (mostly TTBB) music over the years:

Sure, as long as you want the lyrics in the same place verically.
You could also try splitting the tenor 2 voice at the place where this
occurs, and there only, thus (warning: untested![1]):

Often, when lyrics split up, you want extra lyrics above the tenor
staff or below the bass staff, and things get a bit more complicated.
I haven't quite worked out a particularily good way to type up that,
yet.

It may mess with your MIDI output, too, if you have per-voice MIDI
output, but that may not be a concern for you.
Yet another technique is to do this:
foo = \lyrics {
foo bar baz
"gazonk. And that other stuff in the other voices."
et ce -- te -- ra.
}
...but that will not line up well horizontally, to put it mildly.
There are probably other ways that involve messing with properties,
voice names et cetera.
[1] I'm not sitting next to a computer with any recent version of
lilypond right now; my idea may not work at all.

Double scripts and slurs
I think that the PDF file Lilypond 2.3.13 produces with the following
input has some layout problem:
\relative c''' {
c8.->-\trill( b32 c) % 1
c,8.->-\trill( b32 c) % 2
c'8.->-\trill( b32 c) % 3
c,4
}
Of the three slur, the first and the third ones seem too high to me. On
the other side, I think the second slur is perfect.
This is not a big problem, as I can fix this by manually overriding the
slur's extra-offset. But I want to know if this is this a precise
engraving choice.

I've noticed a problem with slurs and grace notes:

In this example, the slur on the first grace note is printed correctly
but the slur on the second grace note is printed down below the beam

We have received several reports that the Python program in Cygwin doesn't work correctly on Windows 98 and ME. (Python is used to implement several parts of LilyPond.) Is Upper/Lower case a factor in producing invalid page faults
I have Lilypond up and running on a Win98SE system. This was no easy task, and I am still working out the details. When I double click on a Lilypond file, I watch the upper left hand corner of the dos window as the file is being processed. Each time the name PYTHON (caps) appears, there is an invalid page fault error that is generated. The other times, when python appears (small letters) there is no error message. I remember reading somewhere that on some computer systems, as I recall it was UNIX, the file names are case sensitive. So I wonder if PYTHON is generating these errors? SubEthaEdit Highlight Mode?
Do any of you Mac OS X users use SubEthaEdit to edit Lilypond files? If so, have any of you created a syntax highlight mode file for Lilypond? If you have (or maybe if you wish to do it), I'm sure others would be appreciative. I know that I could use jEdit on OS X, but it's not Cocoa (at least it doesn't look very Cocoa-like on the screenshots). If it ain't Cocoa, I'm not likely to use it. Sincerely, Ted S.
