Creating space between each measure on a line?

2005-02-11 Thread Lance Hoffmeyer
Hello,

I am creating "segments" of music wherein each measure is a cluster of notes to
be repeated 3-6 times. I am enclosing each measure in double bars and am
wondering
if there is a way to create a small space between each measure?

Normal
| a b c | b c d| c d e | e f g |

I want to create
 x3 x3 x3 x3
|| a b c ||  || b c d ||  || c d e ||  || e f g ||

Difference in in output between LP and lilypond-book

2005-02-11 Thread eva & Morten Borchorst
Hi
I am trying to put together some LP files with LP-book
running LP (2.2.6) gives a very satisfying result.
When running LP-book everything seems to go smoothly except when
converting the .dvi to .pdf (dvipdf).
I get the following messages:

font feta11 not found
font feta-number4 not found
font cmbxti8 not found
and the resulting .pdf lacks all the heads in the music.
Does anybody know where the error is, and what i can do to correct it?
Greetings

Hi,

Can't find feta20.afm

2005-02-11 Thread Erik Igelström
I just installed LilyPond 2.4.2 on Windows XP. When I try to process a .ly
file, I get the following error message:

Interpreting music... error: can't find `feta20.afm'
Music font has not been installed properly. Aborting
I've checked, and feta20.afm appears to be where it should. I previously had
2.2.2 installed, but I deleted the entire cygwin directory before installing
2.4.2, so this shouldn't be the cause of the problem. A quick look through
the lilypond-user archives tells me that this isn't an unheard of problem,
but, since I'm not at all used to unix systems, most of it makes little
sense to me. What should I do about this?

Thanks in advance,
Erik Igelström

Re: Adding performance notes (text) to score? RESULTS

2005-02-11 Thread Lance Hoffmeyer
Thanks for the response.

Here is what I ended up with:

To get the jagged line and add short performance notes:

 \override Glissando #'style = #'zigzag
 {e,,2. | e''2. | << bes,2.-\markup{\box \column < {"Scatch A
string"} {"with fingernail"} {"towards soundhole"} >
   \hspace #2.0 \override
#'(font-family . music) {\lookup #"noteheads-0"  }
  }
  e\glissando bes' >> | c'2. }

I found this in the regression section

Re: \dynamic "f" \italic "subito" as one word

2005-02-11 Thread Mats Bengtsson
The best way to move a text annotation further away from the stave is
to set the padding property. There are several examples in the
documentation and in the mailing list archives.
If you want a text like "f subito" to be treated exactly the
same as other dynamic indications, when it comes to positioning
you could define your own dynamic as described in

Re: lilypond on debian woody: TeX problem

2005-02-11 Thread Mats Bengtsson
It looks as if you have installed the brand new version 3.0 of teTeX,
is that right?
In that case, I'm afraid that LilyPond 2.4.2 can get into some minor
problems, since it was designed to work together with version 2 of
teTeX. If you don't want the new teTeX for any other purposes, it might
be easiest to install version teTeX version 2.x instead.
I have also encountered some problems with the default installation of
teTeX in Debian/Woody, but have never realized if if was general
problems or something specific in my installation. Anyway, I ended up
compiling and installing my own teTeX version 2.something at that time.

Re: Problem running lilypond

2005-02-11 Thread Mats Bengtsson
Just try to rerun setup.exe. When you get to the "Select Packages" view,
make sure that it wants to install version 2.4.2 of the lilypond
package.
If this doesn't help, try the following:
- Open the Cygwin command window by clicking the Cygwin icon or start
  menu item.
- Move your .ly file to the folder C:\cygwin\home\\
- Run the command
lilypond test.ly
- Send a copy of what's printed on the screen to the mailing list.
(In order to copy paste from the Cygwin command window, you may have to
first right-click on the top border of the window, select properties,
mark the option "Quick Edit mode" and press OK. After that, you can
select any text from the window and just press Enter to save it into
the clip board so you can paste it into your email.)

The full manual is available in PDF form at www.lilypond.org if you want
to download it. I'm not sure I understand exactly what you tried. If you
were looking for the documentation files in the installation on your own
machine, it will look very different depending on what distribution of
Linux you use (or maybe Cygwin or MacOS) and on which package you
installed.
In general, always tell what LilyPond version you use and on what
platform, when you send questions to the mailing list.

Re: Install Problem windows

2005-02-11 Thread Mats Bengtsson
The command to be run when you double-click on .ly files in Windows
should automatically be set correctly when you install the package
in Cygwin. The default setting is
C:\cygwin\bin\bash.exe --login -c '/usr/bin/lily-wins "%1" '
which not only runs lilypond but also opens the resulting PDF file
in Acrobat Reader.
If this file association was not set correctly for you, it indicates
some installation problems, which hopefully should be cured if you
rerun setup.exe and select "reinstall" for the lilypond package.

 Hello!
I'm totally new at this but I did have it run on Win XP.
The tweak I did was: in Windows explorer - options - file types I associated
.ly files with bash and not with Lilypond.exe so it worked for me..
may be it will help..

Rerun setup.exe and make sure you select lilypond version 2.4.2-1.

feta glyphs in latex?

2005-02-11 Thread D Josiah Boothby
perhaps this is the wrong place to ask this question, but how would i use
feta glyphs in a latex document?

in particular, i'd like to use flats and sharps that matches better with
the palatino font than the math font that latex uses for it (namely,
feta).

if this is the wrong place, please point me in the right direction,
josiah

Thanks.

That's a configuration glitch while moving servers.

You may try the .ca mirror for now (see front page).

Sorry for the inconvenience.
