I recommend that you first verify that you can run LilyPond normally
from the command line, i.e. that
lilypond.app/contents/MacOS/LilyPond lpfiles/treble.ly
(or some version of that, I don't use MacOS myself) works correctly. Ones
you have managed to do that, it's just to add the extra options you want.
By the way, I think you want

OOoLilyPond trouble

2006-10-04 Thread David Bobroff
I just downloaded and installed OOoLilyPond. I followed the
instructions on the sourceforge.net page for installation/set-up. There
were two or three differences in the sub-menus, but I think I got it
figured out. When I try to use it, though, it doesnothing. I
tried "Testing the Script". I did Crtl-M and the Editor box opened. I
keyed in some Lily code and hit the 'lilypond' button. Nothing. I
tried the 'configure' button. Noththing. No response at all.

I'm running LilyPond 2.8.5 on Fedora Core 3. LilyPond was installed
from an auto-installer.

how to do (de)crescendos between monophonic and polyphonic parts?

2006-10-04 Thread Michael Kiermaier
I want to have a crescendo mark which starts within a monophonic part an ends
within a polyphonic part. Like this (non working) example:

c\cr << {d\!} \\ {f} >>
The c should be connected to the subseeding d by a crescendo.

I know that I could put the first note into the polyphonic part (like this: <<
{c\cr d\!} \\ {s f} ), but I don't want to do that. The above example is
quite simplified to show the idea. My actual situation is different and I
definitely want the first part to be monophonic.

The manual shows how to connect notes by ties in similar situations, the
monophonic voice counts as the first polyphonic voice then.

Unfortunately, that seems not to be true for dynamic marks.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

~michael

You may play around with \transparent, \combine and \fontsize get your

untested:
ppsempre =

May be this is the problem. The auto installer installs LilyPond under
/home/username/bin. Maybe this path is not in your system search path.

Try the following commands in bash:
$ export PATH="$PATH:home//bin"
$ ooffice

If this does not help, wait for the next release of OOoLilyPond in one

Horizontal movement of SustainPedal

2006-10-04 Thread Michael J Millett

\version "2.8.4"
Mac 10.39

I am trying without success to move the sustain pedal marking
horizontally. Shouldn't this be doing it?

\once\override SustainPedal #'extra-offset = #'(-3.0 . 0.0)

or

\once\override Staff.SustainPedal #'extra-offset = #'(-3.0 . 0.0)

I see reference to this working: \override Staff.PianoPedalBracket
#'extra-offset = #'(2 . -2),
but I am not getting it to work. I'm trying to move the symbol, not the
bracket, anyway.

I've also tried without success:

\override SustainPedalLineSpanner #'padding = 1

and

\once \override Staff.SustainPedal #'self-alignment-X = 1

Thanks for your help,

collision between rest of one voice and the notes of the other voice

2006-10-04 Thread Michael Kiermaier
Hello,

it's me again.

I ran into this problem:

\relative c' { << {c c c c} \\ {R1} >> }

In the output there is a collision between the rest of the second voice and
the notes of the first voice.

The right solution would be to put the rest on a ledger line and to lower it
until no collision occures.

Is there a reason why lilypond doesn't to that?
Is it possible to force lilypond to put the rest on a ledger line? Or at least
to correct the output somehow manually?

2006-10-04 Thread Trent Johnston

Hi Graham,

I don't think these are bugs as such. It's got to do aligning the extender
line. If you place a spacer (s8 etc) between the figures the figures are
printed the right way.

as in the example below taken from Issue 103: if you reduce the length of
the figure to 8 and put a 's' between (ie. a 8 space) the figures print
correctly.

is sent a reply to the Lilypond user list a while ago with a solution to

Instrument transposition and score transposition confusion

2006-10-04 Thread OnionRingOfDoom

I'm writing an orchestral score out, and I have a large piece.ly file in
which all the individual instrument parts music is written out. Every
instrument's part starts with something like varInstrumentNotes = \relative
c'' { . Every part is entered with \relative c, then there are template
files for each part which are used to actually print the invidual parts. The
structure is as follows:

\new Staff \with {

} % end with
{
  \clef "treble"
  \set Score.skipBars = ##t
  \override MultiMeasureRest #'expand-limit = 1
  \override Score.RehearsalMark #'Y-offset = #0.08
  \varKey
  \varTime
  \varInstrumentNotes
}

But now I have to write out the Bb Clarinet parts, and the Bb Clarinet is
obviously in the key of Bb. Now, in the score, I want to write it out in C,
and then in the template file have it transpose to Bb. The key of the entire
piece is A Minor. How would I go about transposing the Bb Clarinet into the
propper key? I cannot seem to figure out if I use the \transpose command or
the \transposition command.

Re: collision between rest of one voice and the notes of the other voice

2006-10-04 Thread Mats Bengtsson

I would rather recommend to set the staff-position property:
moveRestUp = \once \override MultiMeasureRest #'staff-position = #6
moveRestDown = \once \override MultiMeasureRest #'staff-position = #-6

The default in \voiceTwo (i.e. in the second voice of a <<{...} \\
{...}>> construct)

is that staff-position is set to -4 for MultiMeasureRest.

Since these rests are typeset centered between the bar lines, it would
require
significant effort for LilyPond to figure out which other notes it might
collide

with (all the current collision handling between notes and between notes and
rests, is only done for notes and rests that occur on the same beat).

Re: Instrument transposition and score transposition confusion

2006-10-04 Thread Mats Bengtsson
I think this is well described in the section on "Transpose", which
provides a

similar example for the case of an A clarinet. If in addition you want
the MIDI output to sound correct, you should also use \transposing (which
has nothing to do with the printed output, just the MIDI output).

\new Staff \with {

} % end with
{
  \clef "treble"
  \set Score.skipBars = ##t
  \override MultiMeasureRest #'expand-limit = 1
  \override Score.RehearsalMark #'Y-offset = #0.08
  \varKey
  \varTime
  \varInstrumentNotes
}

You can always put the rest at the position of a note e.g. d'1\rest
