2002-12-05 Thread Russell Smiley
Would someone mind explaining why this doesn't work (the slashed 'o'
doesn't print)?

b'2.^#'(columns "C" (super (music "accidentals-1")) ((overstrike "o")
"/"))

Similarly with this the '4' is never published:

e'2.^#'("Gma7" (super (music "accidentals-1")) "4")

Thanks for your help.

Re: Persistent font problems

2002-10-28 Thread Russell Smiley
I've attached the output of 'locate feta'.

I also tried 'ly2dvi -p' to output pdf. This appears to fix the problem
as you suggested. The only much more minor (cosmetic) complaint is that
the bracket for the piano staff appears to be the wrong size.

I think I can live with that. :-)

Thanks for your help.

Russell.

Re: Persistent font problems

2002-10-26 Thread Russell Smiley
Mats,

Removing the feta* files in my local directory made the dvips and ly2dvi
generated files look the same. Unfortunately it didn't fix the squashed
font problem.

Sorry about the 16 versus 20 font size oversight. I'm usnig denemo to
enter the music which defaults to 16 so I have to change it by hand to
20. The first one I generated probably did have 20, but subsequent
version I forgot to change.

Any other suggestions on where to look for the squashed font problem?

There must be somethin peculiar about my system if noone else has this
problem.

Thanks.

Russell.

I've attached the dvipslist and xdvilist. They appear to have different
lists of fonts in them. I also printed the dvips generated file and it
looks just like it does in gv (completely messed up).

Re: Persistent font problems

2002-10-24 Thread Russell Smiley
You're correct. I just did a clean font. I viewed my example with xdvi
and tried "kpsewhich feta20.pk" again. No response again.

However I did notice that there is no font problem with xdvi (and the
rests are okay, they have also been a problem)...see the attached png.

> xdvi -v
xdvi version 22.05d-k

It seems the problem is the conversion from dvi to postscript. Perhaps I
am not using the correct tools to convert to postscript?

If I use dvips to convert to ps I get the attached png
(badfont_dvips.png). A real mess.

> dvips -v
This is dvips(k) 5.86 Copyright 1999 Radical Eye Software

My example with just the rests and numbers broken in the previous email
used "ly2dvi -P -s papersize="letter" $^".

Which tool should I be using? Evidently both ly2dvi and dvips are broken
somehow (or I'm not using them correctly).

Thanks for your help.

Russell.

Persistent font problems

2002-10-23 Thread Russell Smiley
Hi,

I have this font problem which existed in 1.4.x and appears to persist
in the 1.6.5 redhat rpm. I have run the buildscripts/clean-font.sh and
it appears to not make any difference.

Can anyone suggest any further efforts to eliminate the problem?

I've attached a png illustrating the problem (apologies for the
attachment). You can see the 3 on the time signature is squashed. This
also happens with numbers in repeats.

Thanks for your help.

To prevent the "Lily was here" line you put 'tagline = ""' in the

\header{

Thanks for your reply. What you have described below does work. I got
mine working as well as a result. To use your example this is the
broken version of my file (which usually works for a single lyric line):

Note the lack of a Lyrics label on the above line

Similarly here...

Can you explain why this doesn't work? It doesn't seem to make much sense at present

Thanks.

Would someone mind explaining to me how to get lilypond to do the
following?:

I have two sets of lyrics - the main verse, and a
harmony/descant. Each of the lyrics have different notes associated
with them. I want to put the staffs in and have the lyrics correctly
associated with each staff.

The lilypond manual explains how to get different voices singing the
same tune (simultaneously), but not how to have different voices
singing different parts simultaneously.

Upgrade from lilypond 1.4.0 to 1.4.9

2001-12-27 Thread Russell Smiley

Just upgraded to 1.4.9 from 1.4.0.

There are several problems I would appreciate help on if possible:

1. Since the upgrade you can see from the attached postscript that the
clefs are wrong and there seems to be something wrong with the 1/8
measure notes that have no beaming.

2. There is a font problem with time signatures and the repeat indices
- this problem was evident in both 1.4.0 and 1.4.9.

I am running Redhat 7.2 with tetex 1.0.7.

Thanks for your help.

Russell.
