Hi Nils,

Add 

\override Beam. breakable = ##t

before the break in the second example. That should do it ...

Line break in beam including rests

Dear Lilypond-group,

I want to break after a bar.
In the first example this shown.
However, when a beam spans the break the 8th rest in example 2 causes a 
problem. How can I create a line break here?

Yes, and just for the record: it's not the rest that's changing the
behaviour.
