Hi all, Come on, it's not possible that the LilyPond community has so little to offer in terms of projects. Step out of the dark and tell the world what we do! Tomorrow, MSU's Home For the Holidays spectacular will include around over 330 musicians singing over 25 minutes of Lilypond-engraved music (composed and/or arranged by yours truly). I also gave a kick-butt Lilypond sales pitch at the composition seminar I taught this afternoon — the professors and students were extremely impressed with the output, the algorithmic possibilities, and some of the tricks I showed them (like polymetrics). Hey LilyPond users, Just a note to let you know that the Pondings column is now live on lilypond.org! If you refresh the page, you'll see two announcements, each of which is in two languages. For the time being we're posting all content, regardless of language, on the homepage. We'll be putting a mechanism in place soon to be able to diffuse multilingual content automatically to the appropriate pages. Send me your pondings so that I can post them! People are more likely to download the software if they see that we're a lively community that is getting LilyPond-typeset music out into the world. I don't think we should filter out anything below a Bärenreiter publication ;-) The point is to show what Lilypond is good and valuable for. So I'd say (but I'm not responsible for this): Anything that is in some way public (and possibly even linkable) qualifes immediately. Private use may also be useful for this purpose. If you can say: my church choir can sing better from LilyPond scores, it's a perfect advertisment for downloading lilypond, isn't it? And I'd estimate a statement like 'I use LilyPond for my analyzes because I can use style sheets to mark my results' also a valuable contribution. But as mentioned, I'm not responsible for this, so (all out there) get in touch with Mike ... Best Urs -- Diese Nachricht wurde von meinem Android-Mobiltelefon mit K-9 Mail gesendet. Hey LilyPond users, On the LilyPond website's upper righthand corner, we'll be starting in a few days a Pondings column. This column will house a rotating cast of tweet-sized messages about LilyPond-related projects. Anyone can submit a Ponding, and I encourage you to do so! Three ground rules: 1) Keep it pertinent. A ponding needs to be something that makes LilyPond look good - a concert featuring LilyPond typeset works, pedagogy about LilyPond, published articles/theses, conference about LilyPond, blog about LilyPond, a website that uses LilyPond somehow, etc.. 2) Keep it profanity-free. 3) Keep it informational. No calls to action (i.e. come see concert X, donate to tour Y) aside from click here to read more or check it out. This does not mean that a linked site cannot have donation buttons, ticket sales, or be housed on a ticket/donation site (i.e. Ticketmaster, Kickstarter). But the content of the tweet and linked material should provide information and generally create a positive vibe around LilyPond. I'm in charge of maintaining this corner, so send me your Pondings (anything in valid HTML is fine - make sure its tweet-sized) and I'll put them up on the site!
