I use both LilyPond and Frescobaldi quite successfully from a flash drive
on a nearly daily basis. Theyre not truly portable, in the full meaning of
the word. They do interact with the host file system and registry a little,
but if you are just moving between the same computers regularly, then it
should work great for you.

All I did was install both LilyPond and Frescobaldi like normal to the
computer and then just copied their application folders to the PortableApps
directory. All their needed files are there. I've even had multiple
LilyPond installations put on my flash drive, all registered for use in
Frescobaldi.

When you run LilyPond for the first time on a new computer, just like
always, it will take a little longer to run because it needs to create a
new font cache. That's one of the few things it doesn't take with it.

Hope that helps!

Portable Lilypond?

2017-04-22 Thread Allen Farley

Hi!
First time in this group, thank you all so much for helpful info!

My Question:
I use portableapps on a flash drive for much of my work, is there a version on
Lilypond that could work in that environment? I saw Musescore or some such, but
would like to go with what I know even if I only know a little!

Thank you for the help!
