Another option instead of integrating LP with LaTeX just to import into OOo would be to learn LaTeX. I'm just starting off with LaTeX myself, and honestly, I think it will be better (more professional) looking and easier to integrate.  postscript instead of pdfand to import that file to a image processor like gimp or inkscape. Thatway you can create either png or svg files which both could be used asimages in youropenoffice file. You could also do
lilypond --png input.ly
to produce a png.  :)There's also an svg backend, but I'm not 
certain what state it's in.

 I'm a recent user of Lilypond and currently writing a music 
theory book for popular music. I'vedownloaded the Lilypond system since

 I've gotten as far as being able to make the notes appear in

OpenOffice.org integration is not implemented, but it is available as a
