Re: stem doesn't fit in beam

2007-08-11 Thread Kieren MacMillan

Hi Peter,

e4 \acciaccatura { cis[ d ] }  cis

Its about the acciaccatura, there should be something wrong with
the bracket

but i don' know what.

Since the last specified duration before the \acc is a quarter note
(e4), the \acc consists of quarter notes as well.

As a result, you're attempting to "beam" two quarter notes! =)

Instead, try

e4 \acciaccatura { cis8[ d ] }  cis

where the cis8 is cis16 or cis32 (etc.) as needed.

Hope this helps!
Kieren.

Re: stem doesn't fit in beam

2004-10-28 Thread Ruud van Silfhout
Hi Jean-Marc/Mats

The problem is that the position of the first bracket is wrong.
It should be:
  {e4 f4. f8[ f8. f16]}
instead of
  {e4 f4. [f8 f8. f16]}
because lily is now using postfix notation.

When you translate the new version, you get the same output as before, but
without the warning.

Regards,
Ruud van Silfhout

Move the "[":

  $ cat z.ly
  \version "2.3.22"

  {e4 f4. f8[ f8. f16]}
  $ lilypond --dvi z.ly

  Now processing `z.ly'
  Parsing...
  Interpreting music... [2]
  Preprocessing graphical objects...
  Calculating line breaks... [2]
  Layout output to `z.tex'...Converting to `z.dvi'...

  $

From:

http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.3/Documentation/user/out-www/lilypond/Automatic-and-manual-beams.html#Automatic-and-manual-beams

I understand that one don't surround the notes to be beamed with [],
instead the start and end note are appended with them.

Correct:

  a8[ ais]

Incorrect:

  [a8 ais]

/Karl

It seems to be just a warning and the output looks OK.
Still, I send a copy to bug-lilypond, since the problem
remains in version 2.3.22. A minimal example file is
\version "2.3.22"
{e4 f4. [f8 f8. f16]}
