[LincolnTalk] Free puppy play pen

2021-11-06 Thread Margo Fisher-Martin
Hi,

Free 8 section interlocking brown plastic puppy playpen. Used it for 2
young puppies and puppy play dates both inside and outside. Also great for
blocking new plant areas!
Heavy plastic. Could use a hose cleaning but in perfect condition.

Ditto Felton St.  Many years ago an artist friend recommended their framing and
I haven't been disappointed about any of their work, ever. AND their prices are
very reasonable.  Most of what I have on my walls was framed at Felton St.
Highly recommend them.Jean Palmer

Re: [LincolnTalk] Eye glasses

2021-11-06 Thread Alida ZweidlerMcKay via Lincoln
I’ve had great experiences with the folks at Gordon Optical in Lexington.
They’re brothers who inherited the family business. One is the optometrist and
the other makes the glasses, which he was taught how to do by his grandfather.
The optometrist does a great job explaining what he’s doing and teaching about
eye health. The optician was very helpful in picking out frames. They have a
nice selection, and since they make the lenses right on site, it’s fast
turnaround. Plus they took my insurance. I couldn’t be more pleased.

My two smallish pups were barking wildly at the window just now and, as it
turns out, at a coyote casually walking up my driveway, quite close to the
house then casually back into the woods surrounding the house.  I live on Tower
rd, on the Weston border of much conservation land in Weston. The coyote did
not bark back.  Jean PalmerTower Rd.    --

[LincolnTalk] seeking info re: snow blower acquisition

2021-11-06 Thread Karen Seo
Plan to buy a snowblower. So seeking recommendations of where to buy,
brands/models, or possibly one you have to sell (missed the Ariens model
that was recently posted).  Will be used to augment shoveling to clear
paths between garage/house, sheep pastures, shelters/feeders/water/etc
and to clear gates, sheep locks, feed pens and areas around
feeders/water/etc. Advice most welcome.  Please send replies to me
(k...@alum.mit.edu) and I'll summarize and post to the list. Let me know
if there's any info you'd prefer that I NOT include in the summary.

Thank you,
Karen

[LincolnTalk] UPDATE re: roofing repair people/companies

2021-11-06 Thread Karen Seo
One more recommendation has been added (Don Rondeau), a second vote for
Gerry O'Doherty and a report on how Fridel Quinonez did.   As you may
recall, Fridel Quinonez  was quick to reply and come assess the
situation.  He then didn't show up the next day (Thurs) as promised and
didn't contact me to let me  know what was happening. I called him on
Saturday and he said some other work had taken longer than expected.  He
came on Sunday and fixed the 2 areas where shingles had blown off.  He
also showed me the source of the problem -- improperly nailing that
failed to catch the underlying shingle. He said that short of replacing
all the shingles, there was no easy way to detect other mis-nailings  I
have the impression that he checked shingles that were near the ones
that blew off. It took him less than one hour and he charged me $250 for
time/materials. Seemed a reasonable price to get someone to come out to
fix the problem on relatively short notice.  I later noticed that the
replacement shingles don't match the originals in terms of shape. This
doesn't bother me but perhaps he should have mentioned this to me.  All
in all, I think he's knowledgeable, efficient, and very pleasant to deal
with.  However he really should have called me when he couldn't show up
when he said he would.
