Hello Steve

http://watertownwatchandclock.com/

They are on Trapelo Rd in Waltham. 30 year old family business- formerly in
Watertown, run by the Carey family. Chris is the watchmaker and they’re all
fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and specialize in Waltham clocks from back
when it was know as “The Watch City”!

Also, ridiculously fairly priced! Tourneau (sic?) Jewelers charged 5-6 times
what they had for simple maintenance.

They also have some nice older clocks for sale.

The Lincoln Board of Health (BOH) voted to rescind the town-wide indoor

improved and positively trending public health data, including Lincoln’s
high vaccination rate.

Residents with weakened immune systems or at increased risk of severe
Covid-19 disease because of age or medical conditions, or who have a
household member at such increased risk, are advised by the Lincoln BOH and
the Commonwealth’s Department of Public Health (DPH) to continue to wear a
mask when indoors other than in their home, even if they are vaccinated.

We encourage the public to continue to wear masks in accordance with their
own comfort level and in compliance with the DPH guidelines cited above.

[LincolnTalk] Lincoln scholarship and award application deadline tomorrow

2022-03-30 Thread Aldis Russell

High school seniors and recent grads,

Tomorrow is the application deadline for the awards and scholarships
administered by the Lincoln Scholarship Committee. We encourage you to apply
for these merit based and/or need based scholarships and awards.

Links to the applications and application instructions:

Scholarships
The Lincoln Permanent Scholarship FundThis fund, established in 1956, offers
scholarships to graduating high school seniors that are one-time only and take
into account need, academic and extracurricular records. The perpetuation of
the Permanent Scholarship Fund is due in part to the ongoing generosity of
Lincoln residents’ response to the Lincoln Scholarship Committee’s annual
appeal each spring.
The Ogden Codman Trust, which became operational in 1972, is a perpetual
charitable foundation established by the Codman family, long-time residents of
Lincoln. Its purpose is to benefit the town of Lincoln and its residents in a
variety of ways including scholarship support. They offer two scholarships:
The Ogden Codman Scholarship offers $5,000 for each of four years, with
academics and need being primary considerations, as well as recommendations and
extracurricular activities. Students who apply for this award typically plan to
attend four-year colleges or universities.
The Codman Opportunity Scholarship offers $2,500 for each of four years, with
similar consideration to the Ogden Codman Scholarship, attention to applicant
need and academic strength. This award is available to students attending
vocational, technical, community college, or four-year higher education
institutions.
The Harriett Todd Scholarship, beginning Spring 2021, there will be $5,000
available per year for up to two years for as many as two students. This award
is open to all students who attended Lincoln Public Schools from at least
Grades 5-8 and who graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury or a vocational institution
whose tuition was paid by the Town of Lincoln. The mission of this scholarship
is to encourage students pursuing studies and/or training consistent with
Harriet Todd's lifetime of devotion to public service and volunteerism,
demonstrating both commitment and integrity to a broad range of civic concerns.
The award will be given to support students in their studies at post-secondary
institutions upon graduation from high school, including a two or four-year
college or university, vocational school, or other post-secondary study or
certification training program.
Awards
The Fanny S. Campbell Award for academic achievement honors Miss Campbell
(1868-1960), long a resident of Lincoln. With her gift of $1000.00 in 1956 the
Lincoln School Association was able to establish a trust entitled the Lincoln
Permanent Scholarship Fund with a mandate to accept gifts for the purpose of
"enabling deserving Lincoln children to continue their formal education beyond
high school."
The Sumner Smith Award for community service honors Sumner Smith (1889-1985) a
prominent farmer, businessman, and life-long resident of Lincoln who gave
generously of his time to community affairs, serving as a member and chair of
the Lincoln Board of Selectmen from 1933 to 1943, and as the Lincoln Water
Commissioner for 41 years.

[LincolnTalk] Town Election

2022-03-30 Thread Ephraim Flint via Lincoln
I would like to thank all those who participated in this year's town
election. Lincoln has had a long and strong tradition of community
participation in its government. This election shows that the tradition not
only continues but thrives. It is always an opportunity to express
different points of view and hear how others think about the challenges that
face the town.

Once again, I would like to express my appreciation to all who participated,
the voters, the campaigners, the LPTO and the candidates.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Poland?

2022-03-30 Thread Cynthia E. Bencal
Yes! My cousin, Michael Bencal, let me know that help is needed at the
Warsaw, Poland train station to hand out food and water to refugees. He is
traveling there for a week in May in order to help in Warsaw. He speaks
Polish.

Help at the Ukrainian/Polish border needs people who are fluent in either
Ukrainian or Polish. Hope this helps people who want to volunteer to travel
to Poland/ Ukraine.
