[LincolnTalk] Can anyone lend us some ice skates for a few hours here and there?

2022-12-23 Thread RAandBOB
My grandchildren are here from Birmingham Alabama and it would be so special
for them to have a chance to ice skate. My boys are here from Birmingham. Any
chance you have skates that we could borrow from time to time? mens 11, 8.5,
and 7 for the boys, 11 for Curtis, womens 9.5 for Sunnie.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Any Ice Skating Stories?

2022-12-23 Thread Heather Ring via Lincoln
My Mom always talks about skating on Long Pond and then over at Valley Pond.
My daughter doesn’t believe anyone ever skated on Long Pond as the landscape
has evolved so much. Nowadays I love the new tradition of the community ice
rink at Pierce House.

[LincolnTalk] It's not too late – give the gift of a Squirrel!

2022-12-23 Thread Alice Waugh
Dear Lincoln,

Here are two great gift ideas for yourself or others on your last-minute
list:

   1. *"The Lincoln Squirrel: The First Ten Years,"* a colorful 14-page PDF
with headlines and photos from the first decade of Lincoln's online
newspaper — and each headline and photo is linked to its source on
the Squirrel website. If you're giving this as a gift to a non-subscriber,
I can set them up with a one-month free subscription so they can read the
stories. *Only $20! *Click here to see a sample page.

   2. Discounts on a *one-year subscription to the Lincoln Squirrel* — *only
$48* vs. the usual $54. You can also get a discounted subscription for
yourself if you're a new subscriber.

If you'd like to give either one as a gift, I'll send the recipient a
digital gift card on Christmas Day or whenever you specify, along with
instructions on how to log in. Just call or email me to tell me your name,
the recipient's name and email address, and when you'd like them to receive
the gift card. You can pay using PayPal, Venmo or check (see below).

   - *Pay by check: *Mail checks made out to "Watui Words" (not Lincoln
Squirrel) to 178 Weston Rd., Lincoln MA 01773
   - *Pay by PayPal:* lincolnsquirreln...@gmail.com
   - *Pay by Venmo:* @Alice-Waugh

Re: [LincolnTalk] Any Ice Skating Stories?

2022-12-23 Thread Magruder Donaldson
How we all looked forward to early winter after the first ice had formed in
December to take full advantage of the few weeks before serious snowfall.
This weekend, after the rain and warm weather followed by a hard freeze,
should set up a spectacular week or 10 days of perfect ice for all to enjoy!
Among a book full of memories since the 1950s, prominent are those having
to do with shoveling snow off the ice after school, with luck in time to
enjoy a game of hockey between goals marked by boots before it got so dark
we couldn’t find the errant pucks in the bushes.
I hope the young of all ages will take advantage of our outdoor ice to
create their own lifelong memories of Lincoln in winter!
