Re: [LincolnTalk] Baby deer
Good to know this.I find it awe-inspiring that the mother deer could convey to the baby deer that it should remain in place until she returns, and that it would do so! Sometimes human children don’t listen nearly so well :-)It’s good to observe animal behavior to learn so many things!Sent from my iPhoneOn Jun 13, 2023, at 9:40 AM, Leslie Turek wrote:Great news! Re: [LincolnTalk] Baby deer
Best thing is to leave it be. Most likely the mother will come back. On Mon, Jun 12, 2023 at 9:37 PM Edica Lin wrote: > Dear Neighbor, > > A baby deer is hanging out by our property. As many of you suggested, the deer mama came after dark to pick up the baby! Thank you for your advices. Re: [LincolnTalk] Baby deer
I read that it is not uncommon for mothers to leave their babies alone for some time and will eventually come back to retrieve them. Here's some info about that: https://www.mass.gov/service-details/what-to-do-if-you-find-a-young-deer#:~:text=and%20early%20June.-,If%20you%20find%20a%20fawn%2C%20leave%20it%20alone .,probably%20feeding%20or%20bedded%20nearby.
