This is how it's being spun:

... We are in a dilemma right now where the NBN stopped private infrastructure 
investment in its tracks almost 10 years ago. So they either need to remove the 
threat (the nbn itself) or get a move on. They can't get rid of the nbn because 
politically it is unpopular to do, so all they can do is get to the otherside 
as soon as possible. We're all poorer for it, however, it's what we wanted 
(being an nbn no matter the consequences).  ...

So the NBN is the problem. :/

To my mind, the only reason we need the NBN project is to repair some of 
the harm done by privatisation.
