[linux] HDMI video capture external device under Linux
I am looking for a good (!) video capture device that can capture HDMI output from a computer, Chromebook, Android cell phone, etc.. Anything that has an HDMI output port. This is to do screen snapshots and video capture for demonstrations. I realized I will not be able to demonstrate Ventoy running while booting, unless I convert a physical USB device to an ISO file and try (!) to use it within a VM. But if I can capture the output from an external device, I will be able to save it for future, but also for live demo of about anything I want to show. Any good or bad experiences with such devices under Linux ? I did a quick Google search and it looks like there are several devices, actually too many options to be able to properly select. My requirements are: - Must run with Linux - Need to be an external device - Need to connect on USB 3 - Need an output port to connect to a monitor Thanks :-) Jean-François Messier j...@messier.ca To unsubscribe send a blank message to linux+unsubscr...@linux-ottawa.org To get help send a blank message to linux+h...@linux-ottawa.org To visit the archives: https://lists.linux-ottawa.org

Re: [linux] Meeting next week (August 4th)
I've simply been using meet.jit.si for Linux-Gatineau meetings for some time already, and no big issue. BTW: I have the Impress .odp file translated / updated / ready. And I'd better look into jit.si (some folk complained about framatalk, but I suspect the % of people complaining is constant, just different people). You can have as many ISO files on your USB key as the space permits. My presentation is currently in French, but I can easily take this and make an English version. The presentation lasts about 20-25 minutes, depending on the number of questions. Ventoy has improved since the last time I remember it was presented at Linux-Ottawa. Only about 30-60 minutes to translate the simple slides. If you think this is something that an audience would be interested, please let me know. If you want to re-schedule it to the next month, I can also do this. Re: [linux] Meeting next week (August 4th)
Jean-Francois, This sounds very interesting, and I would definitely attend your presentation! Sincerely, Katie To All: I have a brief presentation on Linux Advocacy for Digital Health related to my recent experience attempting Linux advocacy in Ontario's healthcare system. If anyone is interested, I could explore related policies/strategies such as "Digital First for Health". I feel Linux Advocacy is part of a larger discussion around digital literacy in healthcare. I recently attended another presentation on advocacy, completely unrelated to open source software (the presentation was on public dentistry), and they offered an excellent breakdown of "Advocacy" and "Lobbying", how they are different, how to get started, and why neither are bad words. I found this interesting and would like to explore this further.
