Re: [linux] OCLUG meeting this week - Thursday Feb 2nd 2023

Can I make a suggestion?

Make the meeting URLs static - I've got them in a calendar (2 of them,
in fact), so when meeting time arrives, I can look at "today's"
calendar, or a notification from Nextcloud about the event and get the URL.

No need to search email, no need to update a repeating calendar event
every month.

Just my 2¢.

In fact, maybe publish a calendar of events directly?

i.e. All the LUGs that I associate with (including this one) are found at:

https://nextcloud.bclug.ca/apps/calendar/p/FstPYnjs8ndwoN6Z

Thanks!

Re: [linux] Linux friendly device

I've been using Simplenote (https://simplenote.com/) as it works across devices
- but I still prefer paper and pen. The reMarkable looks really cool as an
alternative.
I'd been tempted to get one previously and would definitely be interested in
hearing about it - and how you use it in a Linux environment :) It looked like
their support for Linux desktop integration was weak/non-existent which put me
off.

Note-taking devices: I either use an app on my phone called
"WriterPlus" or a notebook. An actual paper notebook.

I take notes so seldom that buying a dedicated device for this would be
overkill. Mostly it's just when I think of a joke and don't want to
forget it, so I write down the bare bones of the joke and flesh it out
later.

Regards,

Dianne.

I have been using my android phone for notes. But do I really want my personal
notes going into Google 's data suction input? Not that I have any really
private info to safeguard. Maybe I need to also carry a reMarkable around with
me. Good idea -- Rick
