Did you look into wifi mesh access points? You would have wifi pucks separated
by a few tens of feet, wherever there is mains power available. One of these
also needs to be the base WAN connection, whether by cable or adsl.

I say puck because google sells an easily managed system with the units shaped
like pucks. There are other manufacturers with more complex systems and fully
configurable. You should know that you are taking on a complex project. Ian!
mentioned a legal issue, there are probably a few more legal issues.
Cheers
Rick

As Ian Allen has pointed out, NCF encourages this, though I accept other
ISPs may not.

It's also part of the musings (security, registered users) to monitor
usage to some extent.

My guess is that illegal purposes are relatively difficult to detect if people
have set out to go in that direction.

It's a nice idea BUT if someone uses it for illegal purposes I don't
know if you'd be liable.

I'd ask your ISP and make sure it is ok with them.

Situation: In my condo development (2 corporations, about 40 dwellings in
a space about 220m by 50m) it should be possible to provide wifi with a suitable
access point. As a community gesture, I'm willing to cover reasonable costs for
upgrading my plan and modem/transmitter. Even more so if I can find someone else

Indeed. One of the reasons I'm with NCF.

Most ISPs won't let us share our residential connection.
To do so may require a business connection and serious money.

NCF may be the only exception:
