Please see the Linux Device Drivers and Command Reference on 
Developerworks.  SMT is enabled by default if the hardware supports it. 
(z/VM doesn't virtualize SMT, so it won't be enabled when Linux is a z/VM,

Yes, it's supported in the "yast lan" dialog.  Once you have YaST started, 
click on Add and for Device Type, select VLAN.
