Problem with Redhat OSA/QDIO recognition

2002-12-18 Thread Ken Maxtutis
Hi,
I am experiencing a problem when installing RedHat Linux 7.2 in VM. I am
trying to initialize a GigEthernet OSA card. I followed all procedures as far
as linking the IBM OCO modules with the RedHat distribution. Also, all
microcode and VM maintenance should be up to date.
A few months ago I had attempted the same thing with an ATM OSA with no luck.
Any idea what could be the problem? What other debugging can be done?

Thanks,

Question configuring OSA-E on RedHat 7.2 S/390

2002-02-26 Thread Ken Maxtutis

I am experiencing a problem installing RedHat Linux for S/390 ver. 7.2 in
LPAR mode. We are trying to use an ATM OSA Express card that runs in TR LAN
emulation. The network device is at E100 and relative port 0. When the
following configuration question comes up I ve tried unsuccessfully to
configure the OSA. What is the correct response to the following question?

Please enter any parameters you need to pass to the channel device layer.
This includes the I/O ports of your ctc, escon and lcs devices, (e.g. ctc0,
0x600, 0x601 will activate the ctc0 interface at I/O ports 0x600, 0x601):

After valid default gateway response is entered the following error messages
appear.

Error: no lcs module found
SIOCSIFNETMASK: No such device
SIOCSIFBRDADDR: No such device
Tr0: unknown interface: No such device
SIOCADDRT: No such device
SIOCADDRT: No such device

Some additional info:

Please enter the network device you intend to use (e.g. ctc0, escon0, iucv0,
et0, tr0):
I responded with tr0

Previously installed the SUSE Linux S/390 version by responding to
installation questions
Select your type of network device - 1 for osa token ring
Network device number - E100
Enter relative port - 0
