INTRA_PARALLEL and z/VM

2006-06-09 Thread Massimiliano Belardi
I'm observing that my Linux under z/VM is able to catch only one CPU even if my
z/VM is configured with 2 processors. This should be true if z/VM by default
virtualize the two cpu in one...
But...
I'm going to modify some variable for DB2...
INTRA_PARALLEL=yes should parallelize the CPU usage by DB2... What happen in
this case? Make sense use this variable also in a Linux inder VM environemt?

SSH Protocol Version 1 Enabled
It's strange becasue Protocol 2 option is set on my system. The ssh seems
that support this protocol but IPlegion don't recognize this! Who is in fault?
My SSHD or the IPLegion program?

ICMP TimeStamp Disclosure
The remote host answers to ICMP_TSTAMP queries, revealing its timestamp.
Knowing the date of a system could help determine and defeat time based
authentications protocols and time based pseudo random number generators
(PRNG). Is the Pam a Time Based authentication module?

SSH Server Banner Disclosure
Where is possibile to set up the version that SSH display?

Thanks to all for your support and Merry xMass!

Hello. I have two linux guest machines running on the same IFL I have a
hipersocket defined to both of them i.e., they are on the same subnet. I
also have OSA ports defined to these same two machines. The OSA's are on
a different subnet, and both Linux's (eth0) are on that same subnet. One
of the linux machines is running Samba. I issue a mount command from the
other linux machine. How do the linux machines determine which interface
(eth0 or hsi0) to use? I would want both Linux's to use hsi0 because
hipersockets are supposed to be fast. Can I some how force the two
Linux's to use the hsi0 rather than eth0?
 Thanks,

First, make sure the module exists:
 find /lib/modules/`uname -r`/ -name *dasd*

If it does, then depmod -a followed by insmod

I suspect the modules are not where you expect them to be, and you'll need
to find out where they really are located. Then issue the insmod command
 with the fully qualified name.

You should try modprobe instead of insmod.

  What's wrong???

This is not an insmod parameter problem, (correct order is: insmod
modulename [parameters]), insmod cannot find (or read?) the requested
 module.

With SLES9 you cannot change the Volume Identifier during the installation via

Activate swap during IPL

2002-06-07 Thread Massimiliano Belardi

Hello,
I have set up my Linux image working with a swap configurated via VDISK. As required
I've updated fstab to accomplish configuration, inserting a line as:

/dev/dasdd1 none swap sw

After IPL is finished I'm not able to view swap activated because Linux seems to be
not able to verify swap signature on VDISK.
As many redbooks wrote, I've set up PROFILE EXEC with some commands as:

'ACCESS 300 B'
if rc 0 Then Do
push 'SWAP'
push '1'
'FORMAT 300 B ( BLK 4096'
push '1'
'RESERVE LINUX SWAP B6'
End
'RELEASE B'

but this didn't solve problem.

I have only idea to insert a new line on /sbin/inet.d/boot file to make a swap:

mkswap /dev/dasdd1

before activate swap. This seems to work fine if is set up manually!

Someone can suggest me any things
Thank's

RedHat 7.1 or RedHat 7.2?

2002-02-08 Thread Massimiliano Belardi

Hello world!
I'm going to elaborate a project to build several reverse-proxy (Linux with apache) to
comunicate with WEbSpere Application Server on Z/OS. Linuxes are built as z/VM guest.
I'm not able to decide if is better the RH 7.1 or the 7.2 for 390 arch. Does anybody
know the difference betwen these two versions (I've some troubles about 7.2)? Does
anybody know where I can download RedHat 7.1 ISO images?
Thank's
