Guys, i'm trying to install Tivoli Enteprise Portal on Linux for System z. I've a SLES 10 - 64 bit... During the installation i'm able to select the Portal only if I chose Linux with 32 bit architecture. How to attach a System z to Tape
Guys, is it possibile to attach a Library TS3200 to an HBA on zSeries withous using a Switch. ! year ago I red some technical paper that suggest using tape library only with a Storage Area Network... Is OSPF limited on zLinux?
Guys, I've a question. I've performed several installation of Quagga with VIPA using two DIFFERENT subnet for the real interface (eth0 and eth1) and another subnet for VIPA. Why z/OS TCPIP can work with VIPA using two real interface on the same subnet??? Service Pack Display
Hy guys, how is possible to get the service pack level from my zLinux system? Usually I get a kernel level issuing uname -a but I cannot see witch service pack is related to it. Is there another command or another file to see this information? INTRA_PARALLEL and z/VM
I'm observing that my Linux under z/VM is able to catch only one CPU even if my z/VM is configured with 2 processors. This should be true if z/VM by default virtualize the two cpu in one... But... I'm going to modify some variable for DB2... INTRA_PARALLEL=yes should parallelize the CPU usage by DB2... What happen in this case? Guys, i have some security issue displayed by the IpLegion Software on my zLinux Systems SLES8: SSH Protocol Version 1 Enabled It's strange becasue Protocol 2 option is set on my system. The ssh seems that support this protocol but IPlegion don't recognize this! Who is in fault? My SSHD or the IPLegion program? ICMP TimeStamp Disclosure The remote host answers to ICMP_TSTAMP queries, revealing its timestamp. Knowing the date of a system could help determine and defeat time based authentications protocols and time based pseudo random number generators (PRNG). Is the Pam a Time Based authentication module? Are the LAN differents? Usually and Hipersockets LAN is configured like a Private LAN (192.168)... If you use different LAN... the kernel will find the appropriate path! Guys, I'm trying to recovery my Linux System in an LPAR environment, using the rescue disk via HMC. After configred the network, I take an SSH connection in order to configure the kernel to get the new UCB Dasds. After the login... as documented, I try to get the new dasds via: insmod dasd_mod dasd=5000,5001 But system is not able to work with this command... The result is: Can't read dasd_mod What's wrong??? Guys, what is exactly the fbset?? By default SLES8 install it on automatic start during boot at RunLevel 5. SLES9 Dasd Dump/Restore
Guys, I'm new with SLES9. I'm trying to backup the root partition and restore it to a differente UCB (I'm in native LPAR mode and I'm using adrdssu as backup utility). In SLES8 after the restore to the different UCB i changed the zipl.conf and rerun a zipl in order to have the new disk IPLable. How I can do that in SLES9??? I've already tryied to modify the /etc/sysconfig/hardware/* withous success!!! Changing Volume Identifier with SLES9
Guys, this is the question. With SLES9 you cannot change the Volume Identifier during the installation via Yast so the VOLID/LABEL will be, for example, 0X737a where 737a is the UCB. Now... I need to change the volume ID via fdasd (option v) also for the boot device. Is it possible to do that??? I would like to suggest you what i'm going to implement. zLinux with SAP Application Server, SAP Central Instance and a DB2 connect that via Hipersockets get data from DB2 V8 for z/OS. Hello, I'm not able to find any appreciable informations about running Sap Application Server on Linux390 platform. Does anybody know if this is possible? Witch DataBase server is reccomended? Kde Gnome on RedHat 7.2 s390 arch
Hello, I've just installed Linux RedHat 7.2 on VM image. During installation i've selected x11 applications and desktop environment as Kde and Gnome. After installation i've also checked with rpm -qa command if packages was installed and everithings seems to be fine, but I'm not able to launch both environment kde Gnome: infact searching in to directories is not possible to find any executable file such ./kde or ./gnome Some suggestions? Activate swap during IPL
Hello, I have set up my Linux image working with a swap configurated via VDISK. As required I've updated fstab to accomplish configuration, inserting a line as: /dev/dasdd1 none swap sw After IPL is finished I'm not able to view swap activated because Linux seems to be not able to verify swap signature on VDISK. As many redbooks wrote, I've set up PROFILE EXEC with some commands as: 'ACCESS 300 B' if rc 0 Then Do push 'SWAP' push '1' 'FORMAT 300 B ( BLK 4096' push '1' 'RESERVE LINUX SWAP B6' End 'RELEASE B' but this didn't solve problem. I have only idea to insert a new line on /sbin/inet.d/boot file to make a swap: mkswap /dev/dasdd1 before activate swap. This seems to work fine if is set up manually! I decreased to 1024 the MTU size but problem isn't solved. Trying a lower value a get erroro during communication. Is there a suggestion about mtu size value? Is possible that the problem is caused for some PTF not installed on VM? I have vmesa 2.3 I have also another kind of configuration about TCPIP networking. I've not an OSA attached on VM. I've a ctc connection between VM and OS390 from an IP addree to an IP address. To communicate between Linux and VM, network specialist configured a virtual ctc between Linux and another IP address of VM. So there are two IP on VM environment. One to communicate with OS390 and one to communicate with Linux. I've some doubt about this conf. May ths configuration create problem with telnet??? Thank's to everybody! After complete the initial configuration, I try to telnet with PuTTY to Linux but after send password I receive NO response. Porting C program from Linux to Z/os
Hello... I'm trying to port an application from Linux390 to Z/os Open Edition. The program was written in C and use cc compiler in both Linux and z/os systems to be compiled. Hello world! I'm going to elaborate a project to build several reverse-proxy (Linux with apache) to comunicate with WEbSpere Application Server on Z/OS. Linuxes are built as z/VM guest. I'm not able to decide if is better the RH 7.1 or the 7.2 for 390 arch. Does anybody know the difference betwen these two versions (I've some troubles about 7.2)?
