Its Linux announcement is contained in
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/linux390/kernel-2.6.34.html .
The corresponding Device Drivers book for 2.6.34 will be available on
DeveloperWorks at the beginning of next week. This version will contain
a subchapter on "Setting up a HiperSockets network traffic analyzer".

The latest z10-hardware offers the base support to implement a
HiperSockets network traffic analyzer. The SE contains panels to
configure authorization for the analyzing partition and the partitions
to be analyzed.

Does anyone have more information about the HiperSockets network traffic

You are correct. Crash will be the tool of the future and it works fine
on s390. We tried to keep lcrash as long as possible working with recent
kernels and for the last fiew years we used both tools in parallel.

Even without lcrash, LKCD is still an issue on s390, because our SCSI
dump tool currently writes in LKCD dump format (which can be also read
by crash).

It's not really used for System z either, at least for newer versions of the
distributions.

I dropped off the tech mailing list *years* ago when it died. At one point I
was looking at contributing to
lcrash, but gave it away as a pointless exercise.

Interesting... cmsfs-fuse -- I take it the cmsfs package is no longer
needed and s390-tools incorporates that functionality.

('settling' awareness in chccwdev looks good...)
