this a known issue, unfortunately. It is mentioned as a know issue in
the Release notes for RHEL-7.0 [1]:
anaconda component, BZ#1070104
It is not possible to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 from the
installation DVD using the Hardware Management Console (HMC) on IBM
System z architecture.
So, unless you find a way to modify the parameter file
(images/generic.prm on the installation DVD) and add required parameters
for the installer, you won't be able to install RHEL-7.0 on your LPAR.
What parameters need to be added to the parameter file can be found in
the Installation guide [2].
This issue is going to be fixed in RHEL-7.1 and you will be prompted to
enter additional parameters at the beginning of the installation.

I am using an LPAR on a z114. The partition has 3GB of storage defined.

Hi Gadi - I haven't installed Linux in an LPAR myself.. though I've installed z/VM lots of times -- which uses the Integrated 3270 console... my guess would be the ASCII console for Linux -- that's what I would try anyway. Hi, Gadi. I don't think you need to copy the log file to a USB stick before you can look at it. what device are you using on the LPAR to be the Linux console; the integrated ASCII device or the integrated 3270 device?
