Updates to linuxvm.org

2003-01-03 Thread Post, Mark K
Over the holidays, I did finally manage to get completely caught up with all
the updates I needed/wanted to make. Hopefully I won't get so far behind in
the future.

Updates to linuxvm.org

2002-12-23 Thread Mark Post
For anyone that's still out there reading, I'm caught up to the end of
October. I also added the 64-bit Red Hat download/update links to the left
of the main page.

Mark,
The link to the unabridged version of SG24-4987-00 on
http://spazioweb.inwind.it/bunga/linux390/books/sg244987.pdf gets what I
think is the equivalent of a 404 error. But I cannot really read Italian.

Re: Updates to linuxvm.org

John,

I just clicked on the link, and got the book. This sounds familiar. The
same sort of problem cropped up when the book was originally hosted there.
No cause or resolution was ever found, and the problem just seemed to go
away.

You might try a different browser to see if that helps. Sorry I can't be of
more help.

Maybe they have some kind of 'HTTP_REFERER' magic going on. Clicking on
the link from linuxvm.org fails, but after putting the copied address
into the location bar, it worked fine. Doesn't explain why the link
works for Mark though :\. Even after accessing the page directly, going
back to the link failed again (in current window or opening a new one).

Distribution List Updates on linuxvm.org

2002-09-12 Thread Post, Mark K

Now that Debian has been GA for a while, I finally generated a list of all
the software packages that are available with it. Thanks to Stefan Gybas
for pointing me to what I needed to start with. The list is quite large,
8,000+ .deb files, so the web page is also quite large, 4MB+.

Since I was in there updating things anyway, I also went through and updated
the entry for Red Hat to show the contents of their GA release, and not the
RC2 that had been there up until now. I copied the updated Red Hat
information into the consolidated list (1.3MB) as well. I did _not_ add the
Debian information into the consolidated list, since that is already 4 times
larger.

I managed to make some more updates to linuxvm.org. Now I'm only 24 days
behind. :( I added a few more Community Members, a link to the SuSE SLES7
Beta download on the left menu, and a number of postings of interest from
the mailing list.

I got a notification that the link to segfault.org under the humor
category was broken. It appears that the name isn't getting any name
resolution. If anyone knows the status of the site, please let me know,
otherwise I'll probably remove it from the page soon.
