Re: microcode Level for OS/390 Linux
Greg, Three things, the first being admittedly pedantic and nit-picking. There is no such thing as OS/390 Linux. OS/390 and Linux have nothing to do with each other, except they're both operating systems that run on IBM mainframes. IBM marketing folks like to call it Linux for S/390 and zSeries, depending on what hardware you're running. Most people around here call it Linux/390, zLinux, etc. No real big deal, but it avoids some confusion. Second, Turbolinux has pretty much vanished from the Linux landscape. From what I was told at the VM/VSE tech conference last week, SuSE will be picking up support of existing Turbolinux customers (since Turbo was part of the United Linux group, and SuSE still is), but I don't think anyone should be seriously thinking about creating new instances of Turbolinux. The remaining distributions still give you a serious choice to make, so concentrate on those. Third, all Linux/390 distributions should run on any G5 system. The minimum level is really a G2 that has the "Halfword Immediate and Relative Branch Feature."
