Any chances that all these patches (there are quite a lot in there!) are
included in the Debian packages, too? It seems that several of these
patches might be of interest for us, too.

I am quite sure that it is a CM battery, not a SBS:

CONFIG_ACPI_BATTERY=y

did normal work, and CONFIG_ACPI_SBS=m but module not loaded. Same
setting as always.

I also loaded sbs.ko without any change.

regression from 2.6.23-rc2 to -rc3 BAT missing

2007-08-13 Thread Norbert Preining
Hi all!

Starting with 2.6.23-rc3 the battery from my laptop (Acer TM3012) is
missing for linux (but not physically):

ACPI: AC Adapter [ACAD] (on-line)
ACPI: Battery Slot [BAT1] (battery absent)

But it is definitely there and running, even when I unplug the AC power.

Any patch I can use to change this?

Best wishes

Something else helped, don't ask me what, but with

2.6.32-rc2

and

s2ram -f -p

it does work. Even with X and 3D running. Nice.

Anything I should do now?

Ok, no beeping at all. Nothing after resume, only fan. And I did not

All same here, same problem with Acer TM3012, Intel Core Duo, intel
945M, ipw3945.

Can you tell me more about the beeping patch? I checked the patches in
-mm and the patch names do not contain "beep", neither does
git-acpi.patch. Where does it come from, do I need some special
configureation? Is there a bit of explanation around?

Thanks a lot, I really want to try it out. I tried already so many
kernels and so many iterations and never succeeded, while s2r works
without problems even with DRI enabled.

Well, of course, but frustration level is sometimes getting high, and
one tries to fix as much as possible to get it working. I for example
removed my modified DSDT some time ago to test the `official' ACPI
implementation. Then I tried to get s2ram to working, to no avail.
Restarting was freezing the kernel beyond repair (there is already a bug
reported, but no real action).

Now of course I tried also to fix the compile errors in the DSDT etc.

Well I have an Acer TM 3012, but with more or less the same hardware, so
I guess this won't help you. Could you dump and disassemble the two
DSDTs and compare them, maybe the difference between those also may be
found in the DSDT of the Acer.

I have the same problem, and tried to debug it with net console, with
minimal kernel configs, with init=/bin/bash, with all the combinations,
to no avail. I did submit a bug report to the resepctive bug tracker but
it looks like nobody is caring for this kind of stuff.

Various battery related problems

2006-06-12 Thread Norbert Preining
Hi all!

Quick overview: Now and then my kernel spits out this:
ACPI Error (exmutex-0248): Cannot release Mutex [MUT1], not acquired [20060310]
ACPI Error (psparse-0522): Method parse/execution failed [\_SB_.BAT1._BST]

ACPI Exception (acpi_battery-0201): AE_AML_MUTEX_NOT_ACQUIRED, Evaluating _BST
[20060310]

this is:
Acer TravelMate 3012WTMi
kernel 2.6.17-rc6-mm2
no custom dsdt table.

I found some references to similar problems in 2004 wrt to gnome
applets, which seems a bit strange.

Do you have any other ideas? Do i have to care for this?

Otherwise the battery applet in xfce4 show the status and remaining time
without any problems.

Best wishes and thanks a lot
