Do I have to update the provided muse to a newer version? I just posted another message here which I think is exactly the same issue. I believe something has changed or gone broken in recent 2.6 kernels that cause this behaviour. Could you give some more info about your system? Mainly kernel version. /Robert > > Uwe -- http://spamatica.se/music/

[linux-audio-dev] muse and /dev/rtc
Hello, now that my audio inteerface is working, I can try the wealth of audio applications. Starting the SuSE supplied muse (0.7.0) it refuses to start cause it cannot use /dev/rtc. Since I used the audio group also for providing the realtime capabilities, I changed the group and mode of /dev/rtc to crw-rw 1 root audio But then it gives the following error message: cannot set tick on /dev/rtc: Unpassender IOCTL (I/O-Control) für das Gerät precise timer not available What is missing? Do I have to update the provided muse to a newer version? Uwe
Re: [linux-audio-dev] Tascam US428 Hangup
Hello all, good news! I have succeeded in making my us-122 work! Heureka and Hurrai and thanks to all that has helped! Am Freitag, 19. I think;-) unfortunately not -- the code seems to use some features not present in the SuSE Kernel, that is a heavily patched 2.6.9 (that is said to be near 2.6.10rc2). But the full installation of alsa-drivers-1.0.7 worked like a charm; ./configure make make install # or better 'checkinstall' and then the us-122 was able to in/output Audio and Midi -- wow! Now I am testing all the wonderful audio applications ... I have found some problems: - qjackctl (0.2.10) cannot stop jackd after a audio graph has been established i have to kill it manually (but not as root) - the same is true for some jack clients I tried (aeolus, freqtweak) > to be really shure, that you have an OHCI (and not UHCI) device you can > look at/mail here the outputs of > $ lsusb for the record: this has to be "lsusb -v" -- otherwise information about OHCI, EHCI or UHCI is not given. I will add my experiences to the wiki page. Have a nice time making music with linux Uwe Koloska
[linux-audio-dev] cannot set tick on /dev/rtc: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Hi guys, Trying to move to a 2.6 kernel here. More specifically I've tried the kernel bundled with Mandrake10.1. I'm not expecting any lowlatency miracles but I was expecting it to "work". The error I get is (when starting MusE which needs RTC): cannot set tick on /dev/rtc: Inappropriate ioctl for device rtc is there. Apparently something is wrong with it. I googled a bit and it seems this has been up here before, with other kernels, so it doesn't seem like an Mandrake issue. Anybody know what this is and what to do about it? /Robert -- http://spamatica.se/music/

Hi there, what was the problem of using my plugin inside PD?
