I was browsing the comments to this (Linux Audio) article[0] on
OSnews.com when I found this link[1] to a Creamware Scope forum[2].
It states that Creamware's Scope Fusion Platform[3] is about to be
ported to Linux and OSX. This is a community effort led by Frank Hund of
Creamware and Willie Sippel (which is a funny name BTW) and they are
looking for skilled developers. The posting is from March 19th.

Hello.

Below is an unfinished list of modular synths. Better than nothing.
This kind of simple lists gives a good overall picture of the situation.
For us developers the list should have following info: have source code?
have manuals? have screenshots? have example instrument files?
I think I have collected enough all of that.
BTW, the paper on first interactive graphics system (I.Sutherland's
SketchPad 1963) gives the idea that the drawn circuit diagram could directly
be used as input to the circuit simulators.
Digital modulars have been around as long but I could not find anything
(between 1963-1980) on having a graphical frontend to them.
Of course, I do not have access to many old papers.
Regards,
Juhana

Re: [linux-audio-dev] European software patents?

2003-09-08 Thread Michael Moritz
we are a non-for -profit ISP based in the UK and at the moment we are
discussing the software patents issue. Does anyone know what legal
implications it would have to host projects which are protected by
patents? Any reports from the US about cases?

Thanks

Michael

Hello. I picked the text below from xine-devel, but I picked it too
late. If this topic has been discussed here, I have missed the thing.
If Europe gets the software patents, I'm willing to archive
any withdrawn software to our archive site ftp.funet.fi.
There they may wait another 20 years for reappearence.
What to do if Europe gets the software patents and your
software is requested to be taken away from public?
How far one should go in order to get the case officially
reported? At least, one should not take anything away
upon an e-mail request as then nothing is officially reported.
It is important to get the cases reported each time so that
the cases can be analysed later by the researchers.
