Sorry. My mistake...i meant 16 color...wrote 16bpp i don't know why.
BTW, I visited the Intel site given by a knowledgable person here earlier.
They do have a XFree86 driver just for the graphics chip on the 810
board

actually it is 4bpp (at 16 colors) and that is Yuckkk, 16bpp=65536 colors
(or high color under win, and it is good enough for most apps)

then use the vga16 x server, it boots up yr x server in 640x480 16 colors
mode and though it works, it is quite bad
alternatively go to www.xfree86.org and dl the latest x servers they
seem to support the intel810 chipset (at least it is listed... never tried
it though)

Hmm..somebody once told me that 810 shipped with one of "those" sis
chips...however recently i came across a Compaq machine..which had the
810 but I could notr make out of the life of me what the graphics card
was. X -probeonly told that it was some intel chipset...

How less would that be? I could only try out one...a generic card in the
card selection menu, and 16bpp color (Yuckk)...i wonder if that would
help...

Hi,

Download the Intel 810 chipset X server from
http://support.intel.com/support/graphics

The file name is XFCom-i810-glibc*-i386.rpm.
