[linux-dvb] Re: Videotext on TV
Hallo! Ok, i think that is the problem. But where can i find the teletext PID? I only found in the list the V-PID und A-PID on the internet pages. Peter Teletext (in Germany called 'Videotext') is broadcast on a separate packet identifier (PID) within the DVB multiplex stream. When switching to a programme you need to set the audio, video and teletext PID. If you do not set the latter PID you will not get teletext reinserted into the vertical blanking area of the composite video signal. When using VDR make sure your channels.conf has got an extra column for the TT-PID according to the description in FORMATS: -- Info: To unsubscribe send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe linux-dvb as subject.

EON at 400kbs is an ave figure based on next to no useage from other users (ie you share the network) As I said in my first mail in this thread, when I tried EON about a year ago, it was very unreliable and often slower than 64kb/s. Starspeeder mention that they on ave have 400kbs but that is not a Service Level Gnt. I guess you cannot guarantee it, unless you allow only 20 users per 8Mb/s transponder. The question is: how many users per transponder DO they allow? I would find any number 125 acceptable, because that would still give us better than ISDN performance in the worst case. Carsten. This parameter needs to be the number of the card that can decrypt this channel. if you have one crad, it needs to be '1'. My system has three cards, therefore my default channels.conf has Ca=3. Yes, the error was in front of the computer. In fact I copied the lines with the multiple APIDs into my channels.conf and didn't change the CA entry. That's why all the other lines worked. But why could I watch encryted channels at all when the CA entry is wrong? Strange. The 'Ca' parameter is only necessary when recording, because then VDR has to select the card that can actually decrypt that channel. It is also used when your CAM is not attached to your Primary Interface (i.e. the one you use to actually watch the programme). VDR then transfers the data from the card that can decrypt the channel to the card that shall display it. Of course, if you have only one card, that parameter is meaningless. I guess I should just make VDR ignore it in that case... [linux-dvb] Re: driver 0.8.2: error with insmod
Hello, On Mon, Jun 25, 2001 at 11:41:12PM +0200, Andrea Malesan wrote: Hi everyone I have just joined this mailing list hope to find here some help... I'm trying to make my dvb card working on my Debian linux-box. I got the sources from LinuxTv, driver ver. 0.8.2 cause the kernel is ver. 2.2.19pre17. All seems to run quite smoothly when I do make in the directory DVB/drivers (some warnings but don't think this could be the problem), till when I try to install the driver typing make insmod. It gives me an error saying: i2c-core.o: i2c core module videodev.o: unresolved symbol kernel_flag [snip] (Just follow up errors to the first one) I've been trying for hours with ALL driver versions, from 0.03 to 0.8.2 but nothing, make insmod always gives me an error :((( (I only posted the 0.8.2 insmod error) Are you sure that the kernel tree and config is identical to the kernel you are running? I guess you would be on the safe side to first compile a new kernel. I haven't looked at the Makefile for the DVB driver, but it's a safe bet to extract it to /usr/src/linux or make a symlink with that name to the actual source tree. If the sources there and the used config are not identical to the installed kernel then it won't work. After running the new kernel make clean the driver source and then try compiling it again. Hopefully it should work then. cu, Lars -- Reporter (to Mahatma Gandhi): Mr Gandhi, what do you think of Western Civilization? [linux-dvb] Tuning problems : a solution ?
Since Klaus Schmidinger has released its test file ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/pub/people/kls/ctest.c ) , I have noticed that the tuning routines do not work correctly with my installation. Very often, I get a channel not sync'ed! error, and subsequent channel switchings fail , too, until at some point it suddenly works again. I have exactly the same problems with dtv_scan, from Rolf Hakenes. It is not surprising, since the tuning routines are exactly the same. I have been investigating this problem during the last days, and I have found a solution that solves my problem. I don't know if it will solve all the tuning problems people reported. The LO frequencies of the LNBs are not very accurate. Sometimes, there is an offset of several MHz. This offset may vary with the temperature. I have found that offsetting the LO frequencies in ctest and dtv_scan (for example 10607 MHz and 9757 MHz for my LNB, instead of 10600 and 9750) works fine. I have runned several times ctest and dtv_scan, and I've got very few errors. I have been able to complete dtv_scan, although it was impossible before. I hope it will be useful to some people. [linux-dvb] Re: AW: Antwort: AW: Re: VDR: first step towards AC3 sound
Hello, Quoting Andreas Vitting ([EMAIL PROTECTED]): i have decoded a 2/0 AC3 Stream (the standard Stream from pro7 television). Pherhaps you has recorded a 5.1 DD Stream from a movie ?? My stream is wrong. From the sync to the next sync bits there is more room then the framesize told me (14 Bytes). This could be the MPEG systems pack packet header. Do not feed a decoder with this. You have to look for the real AC3 data. Bye...
