If you're lucky, a search of the net might find a copy.I looked on Google

[linux-dvb] Networking with TechnoTrend budget card

2002-03-21 Thread Ralph Metzler

Wolfgang Wershofen writes:
today, Rolf Siebrecht confirmed in another thread, that I will not be
able to get my TechnoTrend budget card running with 0.8.2-drivers and
  2.2.19-Kernel.

Before converting back again to the actual kernel and drivers, I'd like
to ask, if anybody has successfully managed to get IP-Networking running
with a TT budget card and the 0.9.x-drivers.

In that configuration I had the problem, that ifconfig dvb0_0 10.0.0.1
froze my box completely in that very moment, I pressed the Enter-Key. I
already tried different kernels and hardware configurations but to no
  avail.

This bug has already been fixed 3 days ago (cf. CVS logs).
Please try the latest CVS version.

[linux-dvb] Re: Composite out broken

2002-03-21 Thread Joachim Koenig

The S-Video output of my card produces wrong signals after 1 or 2 days
(the
beamer can't sync anymore). The CVBS-ouput is not affected
Reloading of the driver helps. Very strange...

I have the same problems. It happens when the firmware has a crash. After
that I see the convergence text at the bottom
and the S-Video is black and white. When reloading the driver it works
again. It seems that the driver does not
set the s-video again after a firmware crash. I think the s-video should be
reenabled in the driver when it detects a firmware crash.

[linux-dvb] Re: tuner type not set

2002-03-21 Thread Rolf Siebrecht

Hi!

On Wed, 20 Mar 2002, Frank Klingenhoefer wrote:
 There is for each supported tuner type an item in the array. The tuner.{h|c}
files in the dvb driver are extented to support the tuners found on the
 various dvb cards.
[AFAIK there are more differences, but the tuner.o out of the dvb package
works for my bt8xx card, too.]

If the tuner type of your bt8xx card is one of those that are already
supported by the bttv package for a long time, it works of course.

By doing insmod tuner the tuner type is detected automagically, at least
in recent version of the driver.
When it fails, either the type test fails or your tuner is not supported
 at all.

No chance for an autodetection! (Via I2C bus?) The tuner type is asserted
by the TUNER_SET_TYPE ioctl function which is emitted by dvb.o resp.
dvb_frontend.o.

In bttv, the tuner type is selected automatically - for *some* card types
- as a consequence of the card=nn parameter. Also by TUNER_SET_TYPE.

Bye,
 Rolf

Look for T-REC H.222.0. This is equal to ISO/IEC 13818-1 (Generic coding
of moving pictures and associated audio information: systems).
Maybe you're also interested in T-REC H.262, which is equal to ISO/IEC
13818-2 (Generic coding of moving pictures and associated audio
 information: Video).
ISO 13818-3 (Generic coding of moving pictures and associated audio
information: Audio) seems not to be freely available.
Once registered, you can download 3 publications per year for free.

[linux-dvb] (In)consistency of DMX/DVR buffers and OSD ioctls

2002-03-21 Thread Dr. Werner Fink

Hi,

with a Digital Dolby Live Patch VDR and even with some
enhancements done with the Asynchronous I/O interface of
the glibc (librt part) I hear dropouts for the most OSD
popups. The underlying ac3play process reports in the
most cases `** CRC failed - skipping frame **' which
means that the driver buffer readed out by VDR isn't
consistence, e.g. lost frames or part of frames of
the PRIVATE_STREAM1.

Is there a way in kernel space to avoid such inconsistencies
caused by OSD ioctls ... that means to protect filling up the
the DMX/DVR buffer against OSD ioctls?

[linux-dvb] WinTV-Nova-CI support?

2002-03-21 Thread Peter Liljenberg

Hauppauge seems to be selling WinTV Nova with a CI module now:
http://www.hauppauge.de/prod_nova_ci.htm

Have anyone tested it, or otherwise knows whether it is possible to
receive encrypted streams from it using linux-dvb? And if so, how
much data can be encrypted (in PIDs and bandwidth)?

Any info on other cards capable of delivering a descrambled TS stream
for several channels is also interesting.
