[linux-dvb] Femon and Nexus-CA low STR
I am just wondering if there is some issue with femon and Hauppauge Nexus-CA card. I had a TT budget card and TT FF 2.1 card and femon showed about the same signal strength for both of them(about all the time). Then I changed the FF card to Hauppauge Nexus-CA FF card and now femon shows 0060 as STR for Nexus while the budget card is still . And even with that low STR everything seems to be as it should. There is no mosaic picture or nothing. But I am a little disturbed about the low STR value and thus thought that maybe someone have had similar experiences or someone would know the reason for this? All my cards are dvb-c. And I wanted to change to Nexus because I got a good bargain of it with CI module :) And I needed another card anyway. \\Kartsa ___ linux-dvb mailing list linux-dvb@linuxtv.org http://www.linuxtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/linux-dvb
[linux-dvb] multiplexing transport streams with SI data
Hi together, I'm fabian, new to this group, an I hope I found the right place to post my question. I need to get transportstreams with manually added SI data. I tried mplex13818, but with no success. Re: [linux-dvb] Problem getting channel list with nova-t-500
Looking in /sys/module/dvb_usb_dib0700/parameters/force_lna_activation it says 0! Despite there being a 'options dvb' line in my modules.conf. I've tried serveral things but still can't get it to say 1! So in the end I just rmmod the dvb_usb_dib0700 module then did a modprobe on it with force_lna on the command line and that worked. I need to go back and check why its not picking up the modules.conf on boot. I then tried with the as-supplied SandyHeath transmitter file and that failed as it had done before. I then used the list which you supplied - and some of them worked! I can now watch a few channels of TV! I'll experiment later with altering the SPURCHECK recompiling. And invest in a amp! Thanks very much for your help, Matt Graham Tavener writes: Matt, I found the reason why the force_lna_activation is not being applied. Firstly I was still using 2.6.19.1 when I thought I was on 2.6.20-rc5 (doh), a quick change to grub sorted that, but my signals were also very low and the modprobe.conf made no difference as the module is not dynamically loaded and is not shown when you do a lsmod. Apparently when the support is built into the kernel and it no longer loads a module the setting is not applied using modprobe.conf and you should pass the parameters to the kernel at bootup. So in my case I had to edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and add add dvb_usb_dib0700.force_lna_activation=1 to the options so it then became kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.20-rc5 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb dvb_usb_dib0700.force_lna_activation=1 Checking the signal level in mythtv it has jumped up and the file /sys/module/dvb_usb_dib0700/parameters/force_lna_activation now contains 1 rather than 0 Also handy to know that if there is a file under one of the modules it implies the parameter can be set. In my case I now have a better signal, but it refuses to lock using 2.6.20-rc5 It might be related to the errors in /var/log/messages DVB: registering frontend 1 (DiBcom 3000MC/P)... DVB: unable to find symbol mt2060_attach() dvb-usb: Hauppauge Nova-T-500 Dual DVB-T successfully initialized and connected I made another change to 2.6.19.1 which may have helped. I edited /usr/src/linux-2.6.19.1/drivers/media/dvb/frontend/mt2060_priv.h and enabled MT2060_SPURCHECK before compiling the kernel. It has been reported that this *can* help some people with poor reception, but has not been proven. I'm going back to 2.6.19.1 as it tuned in ok, but suffered the occasional lockup. FC6 likely uses a 2.6.19x kernel, which is in truth a 2.6.20-rcx and this could make some difference, but there is not a single other error report for this device on 2.6.17, which is quite old by the way and we should have more such reports then. Guess either you have messed something up or even the hardware has troubles. Can you test if it still works on FC6 or whatsoever? Usually the install of mercurial v4l-dvb is very safe and takes care for all, but if anything is messed up delete the whole modules in /lib/modules/2.6.17-Ubuntu-something/kernel/drivers/media (the whole media folder) Run make distclean on the v4l-dvb mercurial and then make and make install again. After deleting the media folder you could also force the install of the Ubuntu kernel again to be sure you have all back originally from that kernel. There is a lot of back porting, adding compat stuff, make it sysfs ready and issues with the input layer for the remote visible. http://linuxtv.org/hg/v4l-dvb?fl=7dac07b49712;file=linux/drivers/media/dvb/cinergyT2/cinergyT2 Maybe 2.6.17 is currently not fully compatible for that device with v4l- dvb mercurial, you seem to have input device register errors on X. Either stay with your default Ubuntu kernel then, or try latest mercurial on the recent 2.6.20 kernel from kernel.org. If FC6 still works it is something in that direction. For your scan question ./scan -n -o zap -p dvb-t/be-Your_Transmitter channels.conf Some like this directly in dvb-apps/util/scan or with corrects paths on your PC should do it. Put the resulting channels.conf in ~/.tzap .xine ... Hm, there seems to be only be-Tournay with one single transponder. Full compat to distro kernels is not the main goal of a development repository, if at all ..., but this additional service is quite fine today, but not always guaranteed to work immediately.
