[linux-dvb] haupauge hova-s plus tuning seems to be broken

2007-07-12 Thread Martin Ramke
Hi list,

I have recently switched back to linux and tried to get my tv-card working
again. It used to work one and a half year ago with the linux-tv Mercurial
version of the drivers so i thought i give it a shot, it seems its integrated
in my kernel as well now. (but that doesn't work ether, same problem)

problem is the card won't tune to any station:

# dvbtune -f 12551500 -p V -s 2200

The driver basically works, but it needs a bit of effort to get going
(because of change here and there) in the current situation. If you
had a hard time earlier, i would suggest to wait a bit more till
things are settled down.

I am now using a usb tv card designed by Auvitek corp.
With au8502 as its demod and mt2131 as its tuner.
They only give windows driver now, but I want to enjoy it under my Ubuntu.
So...
I want to develop a driver myself.

Thanks Manu!

I've added the following to modprobe.conf

options dvb_core dvb_shutdown_timeout=0 dvb_powerdown_on_sleep=0

And tuning is now perfectly persistent.

On a DVB-related note, I also have the TT-3200, which you apparently have been
working on getting working with linux-dvb. Is there any further progress? I
was never able to get the proper /dev/dvb entries to be created when I loaded
your modules.

Thanks again,

modinfo dvb_core talks about a useful module parameter "dvb_powerdown_on_sleep"

disabling ie, this parameter = 0, the LNB doesn't get powered down

you seem to have a XCeive 3028 tuner at 0x61.

Jump over to Markus and the other guys hacking on it at

You need correct firmware and there might be more to know,
but they always had great user support and that should not be affected
by the pottery unfortunately still falling out of the skies here.

mt2131 is completely different from the mt2060

There is a driver work-in-progress, that you can find in the cx23885 dev tree.

The driver works, but it is not yet ready for release.

I have nothing else to report at this time.

[linux-dvb] Nova-HD-S2 (WINTV-HVR4000)

2007-07-12 Thread Rüdiger Follmann
Dear list,

using Steve Toths driver and the latest patches (stoth-11.diff) I can get my
Nova-HD-S2 running fine in DVB-S1 mode. Obviously, I also can tune to a
DVB-S2 channel (has lock) such as Pro7HD. However, a cat
/dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0 does not deliver any information. Tuning to a DVB-S1
channel, I can record the TS to harddisk using the above command. My
question is: Which part of DVB-S2 using that card is working? Is it only the
tuner (szap tells me it has got a lock), is demodulator support missing, or
am I simply doing something wrong? I am using opensuse 10.2 (kernel version
2.6.18.8).
Thanks for any help.

its not really splitted, is it?
imho it is just seperated by now as loads of changes are involved.
from my knowledge, if its finished its merged into main repo again.

> * Marcel Siegert (who listens to other people's opinion and didn't

BULLSHIT! - sorry for shouting -
i made a proposal in IRC - do you remember?
it was concerning NO dvb changes and your devices/drivers could have
been merged without this still happening personal "markus rechberger,
i work for amd and i am the greatest" discussion.

next thing i proposed in irc in a private talk. german language was
taken to absolutely be sure that NO misunderstanding will take part.
what has your reaction been on that?
like always - "No, i wont agree to that kind of way"
i just proposed to merge ALL of your patches, and, afterwards to rework
it to the better solution!
that IS how community works, but you always regret to perform any kind
of compromise!

Facts are: your patches would have been merged already if you would
have been more cooperative
YOU missed all offers, like mine, or the one johannes did.
you just complain about all those bad people in the
   linux dvb community
you send cc's to your very own em28xx ml, and if someone
does a normal "reply all" you blame him to spam your ml

sorry markus, but you dont have to call others like "buttlicker" while
not being able to look into a mirror.

imho, i dont care what you do, but if you want to perform everything
on your own as YOU said, please start over, and take away EVERYTHING!
even these bloody damned discussions on the linuxdvb ml.

and, dont start to cry if someone will take your "old" GPL'ed code,
as a base to implement the devices in a acceptable way, and therefore
will make your very own project/split off obsolete.

without regards
marcel

I think it is the case that for the HVR-3000 only DVB-T is supported in
the mainstream DVB. I'm currently using Steven's drivers with a 2.6.18
kernel (not smp though) and they have been working well with DVB-S for
many months now. I can't try DVB-T as I can't get it where I am.

It might be worth trying to update your kernel and get Steven's drivers
working. Although I don't think they currently work with anything later
than 2.6.18 due to some changes in the kernel :-(

Hope this helps,
Robert.

[linux-dvb] SONY VAIO VGN-AR21MR TV-tuner (AVerMedia M115S) don't work

2007-07-12 Thread Oleg Anisimov (Олег Анисим ов)
Hi all!

I'm buy Sony laptop VAIO VGN-AR21MR and install Debian 4.0 (Etch)
onto him. That laptop have a built-in hybrid TV-tuner based on
Phillips SAA713X chipset, named as AVerMedia Hybrid TV card M115S.
During booting a Linux kernel saa7134 module is loaded automatically
and these shown in dmesg (kernel 2.6.22):

But tvtime or any other application dont shown a channels.
And tvtime-scanner shown only "No signal" message during
tv-channel scanning. In tvtime settings available only
"default" signal source.

Googling give me several results about similar problem and
solving theirs:
http://doc.ubuntu-fr.org/materiel/avermediam115
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=397164

I'm compile and install modules from v4l-dvb-experimental
and trying load saa7134 module with a card=119 option and
subsystem: 1461:e836 identify as AVerMedia M115 card, but
that also no give effect. Tuner still don't work.

Anybody can help me?

P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

[linux-dvb] new bee question

2007-07-12 Thread gxk
Tell me, please, why this project implements tuner and demodulator in kernel
space?
May be new v4l2 in user space should cause tuner and demodulator user space
libraries also?
Same could be told about LNB device.
So, while all those devices managed through I2C, this is the point where kernel
space begins.

I am standing before vxworks code, which should be ported to linux.
