You should base your work off the master branch. The tda18271 driver in
that tree should work well enough for you. I don't know anything about
the IF within the saa7136 -- I would guess it is something like a tda8290
or tda8295, which may need some work for analog support. For digital tv,
you can attach the tda18271 the same way as is done in cx23885-dvb for the
 hvr1800, with alt_tuner=1.

You'll have some work to do to get the saa7136 analog video decoder
working as well... I've heard it may be compatible with the saa7134 code,
but that driver currently expects to be used as a PCI bridge.

Given the CY7C68013A, you probably don't want to touch any of the dib0700
code, although we still don't know what digital demod / channel decoder is
used in your device. Are there any other chips inside?

Some of the vendors (more than one) wrote to me that the TDA18271 driver
doesn't work. That was the basis of my statement.
(maybe it works with some hauppauge product, don't know)

Sure, setup a channels file and try tuning to ATSC to QAM.

I'm not on my dev system right now, but form memory you should also see

I believe that this afatech device is what you want to start off working with,
for dvb support. Unfortunately, I don't know much about those, but I think
there is somebody working on it.

[linux-dvb] HVR4000 & DVB-S2 - What am I doing wrong ;-)

2007-12-30 Thread boppdvb
Hello!

I'm trying to get my HVR4000 working with DVB-S2 and VDR but tonight I
think I have figured out that I have a problem with the driver or
something as I cant get lock on a S2-channel with szap2 ...

This is what I've done:

Downloaded the latest hg from http://jusst.de/hg/multiproto

Patched it with this patch:
http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-dvb@linuxtv.org/msg28003/multiproto-hvr4k.patch.bz2

make all; make install

modprobe isl6421
modprobe cx24116
modprobe cx88-dvb

Then I downloaded a szap2 from somewhere on the net ;-)

radiokaka szap2 # ./szap2 -t 2 "SVT HD"
reading channels from file '/root/.szap/channels.conf'
zapping to 3 'SVT HD':
sat 1, frequency = 11421 MHz H, symbolrate 2500, vpid = 0x0200, apid
= 0x0280 sid = 0x0ed9 (fec = -2147483648, mod = 2)
Querying info .. Delivery system=DVB-S2
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
--> Using 'Conexant CX24116/CX24118'

do_tune: Frequency = 1671000, Srate = 2500 (SET_PARAMS)

status 01 | signal d1c0 | snr | ber | unc |

(it's on my second port on the Diseqc)

And this is my ~/.szap/channels.conf entry:

You should base your work off the master branch. The tda18271 driver in that
tree should work well enough for you. I don't know anything about the IF
within the saa7136 -- I would guess it is something like a tda8290 or tda8295,
which may need some work for analog support. For digital tv, you can attach
the tda18271 the same way as is done in cx23885-dvb for the hvr1800, with
alt_tuner=1.

You'll have some work to do to get the saa7136 analog video decoder working as
well... I've heard it may be compatible with the saa7134 code, but that driver
currently expects to be used as a PCI bridge.

Given the CY7C68013A, you probably don't want to touch any of the dib0700 code,
although we still don't know what digital demod / channel decoder is used in
your device. Are there any other chips inside?

[linux-dvb] AverTV Hybrid Volar HX

2007-12-30 Thread Zdenek Kabelac
Hello

I should start a new thread about this USB2.0 device.

I'd like to get this device working - from another thread on this list
it looks like it should be possible to achieve.

So I'd like to get some information (and eventually some irc
help/short introduction) how to make it working.

I've tried simply to extend current Aver Volar Dib0700 code :) however
except from the fact I get firmware loader somewhere, I'm for this
moment lost (well it's been just a wild blind try what will happen ;))

I'll repeat which chips I could find in the USB device -
SAA7136E,CY7C68013A,TDA18271HDC1

So how could I connect these pieces together into some usable stage
(at least for DVB-T for this moment.

Which tree should I select (where all these chips would be supported
at the some time - from the first overview it looks like there is way
too many different trees.

[linux-dvb] pcHDTV5500 cx88-dvb module issue / possible bug

2007-12-30 Thread Mr Greg Bazar

Hi all.

I spent a few hours with mkrufky in the #linuxtv IRC last night
troubleshooting a problem I am having with my DVB card (pcHDTV 5500).

Mkrufky suggested that I e-mail this group after we didn't come up with
 anything that made sense.

Basically, the card is detected, as seen in dmesg, and the module tries
to load, but I don't get a /dev/dvb device. If I modprobe the
cx88-dvb module manually, I get a FATAL error, saying the device is not found.

Mkrufky had me build the latest drivers from the mercurial source tree,
and that didn't help (hg heads = changeset: 6937:f637ac5a5898)

The analog side of the card works fine.

I am running a Mythbuntu 7.10 iso install with the latest apt updates
applied. This card was working yesterday on my Ubuntu 6.06 install with
Myth, and I did a clean install of the Mythbuntu setup.

My output from the build of the new modules + the resulting reboot and
 dmesg is here: http://pastebin.ca/838697

Any help would be appreciated. I am wondering if it is something with
UDEV etc, but I don't know enough about those systems to be anything
 other than dangerous.

Thanks,

MrYutz / Greg

Yes, I have the latest version compiled and installed. I consistently

As Steven pointed out, the xc3028-v27.fw is for the HVR-950. I had
the same issue a few weeks ago trying to generate the firmware file
using the various tools in the source tree (see thread "[PATCH]
tuner-xc2028.c firmware loading panic" from Dec 9th for more info).
Mauro was nice enough to email it to me out-of-band.

I don't get that error message any more. I think I did something wrong with
manually loading the modules. I rebooted (and set debug=1 on a bunch of
modules in /etc/modprobe.d) and now get only

tuner' 5-0061: tuner type not set

and I don't know what that means or how to fix it.

That said, I'm not sure how he would feel about me redistributing it.

With the firmware he sent, analog support for the HVR-950 appeared to
work, albeit with no audio (I'm not sure if the problem is the driver
or something else in my system yet).

Are you compiling the mainline v4l-dvb tree? Does audio still not work for you?

Hi!

I already did some work on the Avermedia dvb-s pro based on your patches. But
it did not work correctly until now.
I listed all data here:
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/AVerMedia_AVerTV_DVB-S_Pro_(A700)

The analog patch works and I hope it can get included into the v4l-dvb repo.

For the other parts:
I suggest to either do one zl1003x driver for zl10036, zl10037, zl10038,
zl10039, ce5037 and ce5039.

Or do two drivers:
a: for zl10036 and zl10038 (without special register addresses)
b: for zl10037, zl10039, ce5037 and ce5039 (with normal register addresses)

I also suggest to do one driver for vp310, mt312 and zl10313.

I can confirm that Julian has patched scan (http://jusst.de/manu/scan.tar.bz2)
at least for H.264 and some others, plus some other aspects of scan. Awaiting
feedback on that patched scan.

Argh. How many transmitters are there? I think it would be quite convenient

transmitters into that file ...

good morning,
in the attachment you will find a new file for your dvb-t area list
which should work for the german Ravensburg/Bodenseekreis.
I am very thankful if you would use it to make kaffeine better for the
terrestial broadcast in our (smaller) areas.

Sorry to follow up my own post, but really keen to get this working -
I've had this card working under linux a few years ago, so the card is/
was supported. The antenna works for my digital set-top-box. I
verified that the initial tuning data is correct.

What else can I try?

Many have suggested the possibility of combining the vp310,mt312,zl313 and
intel 6313 demodulators into a single driver. Now that the 313 is working
this will be easier.

Unfortunately the zl10036 tuner register map differs from the zl10039 tuner,
so this driver will definitely not work for you. However, writing s zl10036
driver would be trivial, as a full datasheet is available.

I will test it on my Avermedia DVB-S Pro, which is ZL10313/ZL10036
based.

Is it a good idea to rename the the driver to zl1031x.c / zl1003x.c ?

zl1031x.c: zl100312/zl100313/intel6313
zl1003x.c: zl10036/zl10037/zl10038/zl10039 tuner
