Thanks for the status info Steve. I'll look forward to see included this
new approach in the main repo.

The hvr3000 tree takes a very different approach to implementation vs
the hvr4000. The HVR3000 adds support to the saa and cx88 tree's for
multiple exclusive frontends on a single bus, enabling applications to
open either a DVB-T or DVB-S frontend.

It's proof of concept code. I asked for feedback very early on the new
mechanism and the general consensus was positive. However, the tree
contains changes to the DVB frontend framework and should be reviewed
more closely prior to any updates/rework/merge activity.

Given the current hybrid tuner project, it would be wise to leave the
HVR3000 and HVR4000 tree's as-is. These product use hybrid tuners
FMD1216 and will benefit from the tuner refactoring projects.

As I believe that the hvr-3000 is fairly similar (except S2?) to the
hvr-4000, some recent insight from Steve may also explain the situation
for your device:

[linux-dvb] Merging hvr3000 into main branch

2007-08-02 Thread Emilio Castellano
Hello,

I've been using steve's branch for hauppauge hvr3000 for a while. I had
to compile against kernel 2.6.18, as Robert Longbottom suggested and it
worked. I just found issues using DiSEqC although I loaded the isl6421
module as somebody wrote in the list.

Now i have the trouble with another device, it's a Pinnacle 400e. Using
the drivers from steve's branch i got a "Unknown symbol in module" error
message, and dmesg gives

dvb_usb_ttusb2: disagrees about version of symbol dvb_usb_generic_rw
dvb_usb_ttusb2: Unknown symbol dvb_usb_generic_rw
dvb_usb_ttusb2: disagrees about version of symbol dvb_usb_device_init
dvb_usb_ttusb2: Unknown symbol dvb_usb_device_init

I tried diff'ing the main branch with steve'e one and patching the main
branch but i got the same errors when i try to load the module for
pinnacle 400e (dvb_usb_ttusb2)

As i'm using both cards in the same machine I'd like to know if somebody
knows when it'll be commited steve's branch with dvb-s support to the
main branch.

Otherwise maybe somebody could suggest me howto merge them properly.

Thanking in advance
