 Could you please provide some error messages or the like? What about
 mounting it
 manually, does that work?

Just to let folks know, with Michael's help he kindly pointed out that
I had a mismatch in FAI version from the server and client. I had forgotten
to add Thomas sources.list entry for debian etch in the file
/etc/fai/apt/sources.list
on my dapper server which was already running the etch 3.1.2 versions
because
I had added Thomas' sources list entry. Duh! It works
now albeit the grub prompt comes up.

At least it hadn't reached me before; did you read through fai.log before
sending it? It contains the answer :-)

Copied from your first mail in this thread:
FAI_CONFIG_SRC=nfs://192.168.1.1/srv/fai/config

However, fai.log reads as follows (quoting it completely as it is fairly short)

===

So, there are these warnings :-)) And: There is the version number:
2.10.1ubuntu1, which is strictly less than 3 :-) So - there is no such thing as
FAI_CONFIG_SRC in this version; you need to upgrade your nfsroot first...

Michael

Still no answer to this one - it's hard to debug a remote problem without an
error message :-)

Then, is there any error message you could see when it should have mounted it

manually, does that work?
