I'm not sure I've well described my request : I don't only want to install aptitude during FAI installation, but also that FAI uses aptitude instead of apt-get to install all packages defined in packages/* files : is it possible ? About the package dependencies, aptitude marks packages installed as a dependance of other ones, and can later remove it automatically when all its requesters have been removed... Fred.

This is what PACKAGES aptitude is doing...using aptitude to install packages during installation of a machine, it's not using apt-get anymore. there are also examples in the package_config directory of FAIs config space. \sh

strange /proc mount definition in fstab...
Hello, Using FAI 3.1.8 (from Etch) to install some HP servers, I get a strange /proc definition in /etc/fstab : # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # #file sys mount point type options dump pass /dev/cciss/c0d0p1 / ext3defaults 01 /dev/cciss/c0d0p2 none swaprw00 none /proc procrw,nosuid,noexec 00 /dev/cciss/c0d0p9 /appliext3defaults,nodev 02 /dev/cciss/c0d0p8 /log ext3defaults,nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 2 /dev/cciss/c0d0p7 /opt ext3defaults,nodev 02 /dev/cciss/c0d0p6 /tmp ext3defaults,nodev,nosuid 02 /dev/cciss/c0d0p5 /var ext3defaults,nodev 02 The rw,nosuid,noexec options cause /etc/init.d/mountall.sh to give a 'failed' status at boot... Is it correct ? Fred.

AFAIK all the virtual filesystems are now handled in an init script, so putting procfs and sysfs into fstab is not strictly necessairy anymore... -- c u henning
perl modules?
How can I add perl modules via FAI? I need to install Net::LDAP on the machines I run an FAI install. The problem is that I've been unable to make the CPAN module non-interactive. I changed several of the CPAN parameters so it's a lot closer to being non-interactive. But it still occasionally asks questions. o conf prerequisites_policy follow o conf inhibit_startup_message 1 o conf inactivity_timeout 1 o conf build_requires_install_policy yes o conf commit -- John Heim [EMAIL PROTECTED] / 608-263-4189 If you are blind and you use linux, please subscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Tath way you might be able to get around CPAN. Carsten
