What does your storage layout look like? Any mounts which are
network related? Or fiber? exportfs stats all mount points, there
could be that it hangs waiting for the device. Or something
resolution related.

Thanks,

[Linux-HA] Rare issue with exportfs RA

2013-08-07 Thread Caspar Smit
Hi all,

Every couple of months i'm being hit by a very annoying exportfs issue:

The symptoms are almost identical (except a few log messages) to this
previous thread:

http://lists.linux-ha.org/pipermail/linux-ha/2013-March/046555.html

It always starts with a random exportfs resource monitor timing out:

Aug  6 20:51:09 nashead01 lrmd: [2790]: WARN:
res_exportfs_exportfs46acl4:monitor process (PID 21320) timed out (try
1). Killing with signal SIGTERM (15).
Aug  6 20:51:09 nashead01 lrmd: [2790]: WARN: operation
monitor[268019] on ocf::exportfs::res_exportfs_exportfs46acl4 for
client 2793, its parameters: clientspec=[172.20.61.14] fsid=[46]
crm_feature_set=[3.0.1]
directory=[/mnt/replicated_array1and2/VMWARE_BCK_BR1]
wait_for_leasetime_on_stop=[false] unlock_on_stop=[false]
CRM_meta_name=[monitor] CRM_meta_start_delay=[0]
CRM_meta_timeout=[12] CRM_meta_interval=[6] : pid [21320]
timed out
Aug  6 20:51:09 nashead01 crmd: [2793]: ERROR: process_lrm_event: LRM
operation res_exportfs_exportfs46acl4_monitor_6 (268019) Timed Out
(timeout=12ms)

The timeout is set at 2 minutes, and I can't believe it would actually
take 2 minutes to check the status of exportfs resource.

Unfortunatly, the previous thread didn't really show any solution.

I read it could relate to the exportfs binary but i'm not sure.

I'm using Debian Squeeze using pacemaker 1.0.9.1+hg15626-1 and
nfs-kernel-server 1:1.2.2-4squeeze2 both the latest version in
Squeeze. There are backports available for both packages in
squeeze-backports, but i would like to know if that will solve the
issue.

Also i'm using the latest exportfs RA from github.

Kind regards,

Caspar Smit
