shutdown from X

2001-02-14 Thread Tzafrir Cohen

Hi

I recently noticed that when I press ctrl-alt-del from X, it does not seem
to be trapped by init and start a reboot. ctrl-alt-sysreq keys do work,
btw, but that's not a proper shutdown.

I noticed this with mandrake 7.2, but I see to recall the same with
mandrake 7.0 .

Any ideas? (besides the obvious ugly workaround of crtl-alt-f1
ctrl-alt-del)

If I remember correctly, Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't mean anything special
to X. You can just map it using your Window manager's standard method of
mapping keys, e.g., to the command "poweroff", or something like that.

I have the following in my .ctwmrc:
"KP_Delete" = c m   : all   : !"neaper exit"

(you might need to replace KP_Delete with Delete or KP_Decimal, I don't know,
and change the command).

I guess that's because you're in raw keyboard mode.
You might try Alt-SysRq-R (unRaw) and then Alt-Ctrl-Del.
(Might work, might not, didn't try :)
