Hi,

Keep in mind, that the Mandrake RPMS are still in the experimental state, so
you might want to save a copy of your ~/.kde* before upgrading..

Keep a seperate .kderc and .kde version for each installed distribution ,
and automatically symlink in ~/.login

the upgrades are not such a problem, but when you switch between
distributions
and versions regularly, reconfiguring kde is somewhat of a pain.

Enjoy,

DragDrop Hebrew Filenames from Konq to Xmms

2003-02-15 Thread Shlomi Fish

Hi!

I am using KDE 3.1 RC 5 and am having problem with the integration between
KDE and Xmms (1.2.7-13mdk). I want to drag files from the Konqueror window
to the XMMS main window (which causes the file to be played) or the Xmms
playlists (which causes it to be enqueued).

Now, here are my system facts:

1. My fstab line for mounting this partition (a FAT32 one) is:

/dev/hda5 /mnt/win_d vfat utf8 0 0

2. I have set up the KDE_UTF8_FILENAMES=1 environment variable in my
Xclients file.

3. I can drag and drop files from nautilus to Xmms, but cannot see it in
Hebrew there (and nautilus tries to invoke half of GNOME along with it,
which messes up my KDE configuration).

4. I can invoke the filenames with xmms -e.

5. Xmms rejects the files that are dragged to it from Konq.

6. Before switching to the utf8 mounting of the vfat partition, DD worked
fine. (but I could not see the Hebrew filenames, so upon a suggestion of
a member of this mailing list I switched to the current configuration)

How can I set everything up so it will work properly? Alternatively, can
anyone suggest a good file manager that can display Hebrew filenames well,
and leaves the present X-Windows configuration alone.

I'm using Mandrake 9.0.

Regards,

Shlomi Fish

Neither do I, and I am also not familiar with the configuration of
logrotate. However until a better reply is given, I will make a guess,
based on the message

error: apache:1 { expected after log file name.

My guess is that the problem lies in the 1st line of the apache file,
and that the new line between the 2nd and the 3rd file names prevents
logrotate from seeing the '{' character that appears after the 3rd file
name. Note that I assumed that indeed there is there a '\n'. In any case
one way to test my hypothesis is to have there only one file name and
see what happens.

Actually, isn't {RH,Debian} whatever you are using didn't install the
file from the distributed package?

   It's a redhat 6.2 and logrotate 3.3.2.
   this is the logrotate.conf file:

   # keep 4 weeks worth of backlogs

does anyone know how to fix this irritating thing ?

Since you attach /etc/logrotate.conf I believe you should have
attached the listing of /etc/logrotate.d, in particular the apache
  file, if there is one.

Is a Knoppix CD available in Israel?

2003-02-15 Thread Shaul Karl
Is it possible to buy locally a Knoppix CD for 10 NIS? Do the local
manufacturers of cheap CDs like www.guides.co.il intend to sell it? If
not, is there someone who is willing to burn one copy?

rdesktop latest version

2003-02-15 Thread Hetz Ben Hamo
Hi people,

Lots of people here are interested in rdesktop (the app to get remote desktop
from MS terminal services, windows 2003 server, Win XP, etc)...

The latest CVS version has full 8,15,16,24,32 bit color support and works very
nicely.

If anyone wants the tarball (206k) to send it to him, just send me email
privately. There are also some Sun/Solaris fixes as well as some big-endian
improvments...

Thanks,
Hetz
